Could tRUMP and Moscow Mitch be agreeing to releasing whistle blower report to stop the future subpoena fighting? I don't get it!

(51,974 posts)the whistle-blower is ready to talk, so it's all coming out.
not much use being seen stonewalling if you know it's not going to work.

(7,447 posts)on the one hand, why not hold on to it and then dispute him/her when they testify.
On the other hand, you can put out whatever you want to as "notes/transcript" and use that to dispute I suppose.
On the third hand, maybe he's too stupid to realize how damning it will make him look?
I guess we find out in about 18 hours.

(25,183 posts)but only Trump is seriously incompetent. Moscow Mitch successfully screwed Merrick Garland and got what he wanted.
Trump is just his tool, which may well have finally gotten too dull to use. Fast-tracking the whistleblower may just be McConnell's strategy to get a new tool. Pence will make a better one.

(27,813 posts)If they hold anything back on the whistle-blower issue, it will all come out anyway - and they'd rather fight one fire now than have to keep putting out the fires that will keep cropping up.
Their tack is to face this now, get the spin-machine up and running, and hope that the story dies down and fades away.
Of course, that's not going to happen. But right now, it's their only option - and their only hope.
