Ok, hypothetical question

Premise 1. Trump is impeached.... and removed form office, replaced by Pence for the rest of the term.

Could Trump RUN ANYWAY in 2020?

His ego would demand it.. saying his impeachment never happened and was fake news.

IF he could run again.. would his MAGATS elect him?

If he were impeached he would be barred from holding public office ever again. At least, that's what I recall reading.

of trust.

but as a practical matter, it's hard to imagine a successful run after impeachment and removal.

not for president, anyway, and donnie wouldn't run for any lesser office.

I didn't know it was an option. I thought it was an aspect of the articles of impeachment. Thanks.

So, no Donnie for Dog Catcher, huh? Those dogs. They are rapist murderers bringing drugs in, you know.

i would think that if the senate could somehow actually find the votes to remove him, they would also bar him from future office, if only to prevent him ever being in a position to get revenge on them.

i can't see a successful run if impeached and removed anyway. 2/3rd of the senate vote to convict, how do people then vote for someone who can't even muster 1/3 support in the senate.

all this said, i don't see it coming down to actual removal.

in the still unlikely event 2/3rds of the senate is ready to vote to kick him out, moscow mitch delivers the whip count to donnie and he resigns and declares victory before the actual vote, just as nixon did.

Imagine the campaign ads by the Dem who'd run against him: "Hey, America! I'm running against the crook who got thrown out on his ass!" The ads would feature video and stills of Trump slinking off in disgrace - not a good look.

The minute Trump is out of office (defeated in 2020 or removed), his 'base' will be led to the next shiny object, shepherded by the GOP and their so-called 'Christian pastors'.

Trump knows he'd be easily defeated. He'd rather spend his days insisting that he would have won easily - knowing it would be something that could never be proven, because it never happened.

Besides, once out of office, Trump will be very busy fighting the charges he faces in NYS.

They would want to move on with Pence and pretend Trump never happened. They would try to make him disappear however they could.

And of course he'd get some of his old voters. I've seen interviews with these people. The delusion is real. :p
