This whole period in time has been the era of Badass women. Quiet and resolute. Smart and fearless. Nurturing and punishing.
Showing the way.
From presidential candidates to elected leaders to punditry and analysts to young activists. Going where they were never wanted or allowed. Saying what no one wanted to hear and many wanted to listen.
The poignant, righteous emotion of Rep. Veronica Escobar after her El Paso constituents and international neighbors were killed. The stoicism of Dayton mayor Nan Whaley. Emma Gonzales, just into her full womanhood, leading the way to neuter the NRA. Five of the seven Security Freshmen op-edding the House to impeachment hearings were women. The record number of women running for president - and one of them now leading. We need only look around to see them.
Role models, all. Never have our daughters had such substantial examples of where the top of the mountain is.

(3,678 posts)US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar is encouraging world leaders to expand access to health care without the inclusion of terms such as "reproductive health and rights." He delivered these remarks at a high-level meeting on universal health coverage during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Monday.
President Trump and the politics of abortion
The Trump administration, along with some other countries, is pushing for the United Nations to oppose "ambiguous terms" relating to sexual and reproductive health in policy documents, because such language could "promote practices, like abortion," Azar said.
Your reproductive rights are "ambiguous" to them, ladies. And we have 2 NEW religious conservatives on the Supreme Court.
