I'm willing to sit back and watch, and wait, and see what happens with this latest Trump stupidity, and with the Inquiry.
We've already seen Trump has people in the House and the Senate, who will do anything short of actually blowing up the Capitol building for their Dear Leader.
Plus...
Trump still has his own propaganda machine, with Faux "news" at the top, along with far-right nutjobs like Breitbart and One America News Network.
Not to mention talk radio, and phony "pundits" like Rudy Giuliani and Sean Hannity running around making shit up at will.
So I'm going to watch, and wait, and see what transpires.
We survived (just barely) 8 years of the dumbshit Bush younger, and his corrupt buddies like Cheney.
We'll survive Trump.

(3,077 posts)I feel like we have seen this all before. People getting excited, thinking that justice is coming and then nothing. Not to rain on any parade but I am going to just wait and see what happens.

(9,999 posts)so I'm with you Archae, I too am planning on holding off on any celebration until this plays out. If this turns out the way it SHOULD, then every DU-er across the country will hear my cheers. Just hoping for the best but still preparing for the worst.

(25,117 posts)He's got all sorts of right wing media in his pocket. The senate won't do anything unless something out of the ordinary happens.
I support impeachment because it is the right thing to do. It probably won't get rid of Trump, unless we get really lucky. But those Republicans don't care. He's their cash cow. They won't even let him be primaried.

(11,242 posts)this is a process. going to take time (even under the best case scenario). will have go through the courts on some (maybe most) aspects and actions. and the other side has an ability, and willingness, to counter punch. settle in people. (and write and/or call your congressman again)

(25,117 posts)Trump put everyone in a bind. Especially when he started bragging about what he did and then started blaming Joe Biden. The Democrats don't have a choice. It's gotta be done. However, it isn't a time to celebrate. The odds are we won't get rid of Trump, but we will be in a better place because of the impeachment hearings. We need answers.

(42,770 posts)took so long for many of our own party to come around, it's diminished the perceived gravity of his past crimes. How does one pull off believable "retroactive outrage"?
Outrage and punishment as close as possible to the bad action is more effective, just using simple logic.
The strategy of waiting until you hear something SO egregious you finally act in itself diminishes moral authority. And the snowball effect makes the whole thing seem insurmountable.
Yet apparently this is now the world we live in. If people in general weren't so overloaded with information, if there was still a universal source of truth, if there wasn't a Facebook to spread lies to the low IQ types, things might be different.
That said, think the op is more about not getting too excited that "this is "it" this will be his downfall" because we've been burned so many times.

(7,404 posts)This is starting to smell like a setup, whistleblower didn't have firsthand knowledge of the call and they may have just let all this blow up for a few days and then will point and declare Fake News for the umpteenth time.
