Plus FOX "news" needs something to report on. Rest assured every treasonous/criminal utterance of GOP Senators will be headline news over at FAUX

They represent most of the rethugs in the U.S. and have for a long while. The other sixty-ish percent are the ones that are (more) open to convince.

In addition to the impeachment narrative (which they probably realized they couldn't stop on this point), there is an ongoing clash between the legislative and executive branches over this type of law - that historically goes beyond party divisions.

Moscow Mitch might be looking down the road to 2021 and beyond, when we have a Democratic President. It could be because they plan to use this whistleblower complaint as a set-up. They know Trump will lose, and then they're going to set it up so an anonymous whistleblower will concoct a story against the Democratic President, file a complaint, and then Moscow Mitch will stand up and say, "See how we agreed to release the complaint when it was OUR guy in here? You guys need to do the same. (Insert evil snicker)."

Could it be that they've seen the handwriting on the wall, and they're already laying the groundwork for impeaching the Democratic President?

The Democratic President will have PROPERLY PLACED Directors in these offices rather than cronies. Who would be experienced and qualified enough to sniff out "concocted" complaints. Still kind of a big point in this,, The man who reviewed, re-read, and marked this complaint as URGENT, was appointed by the Jerk in Chief.

on Morning Joe said something about refusing to attribute "cynical" motives to the vote, but instead hoping it is a sign of independent thinking on all Senators' parts.

GOP has to run with Trump on the ticket next year. It has to give a few pause for concern, and wondering what they might do about it. Yes some will hedge their bets with a few independent votes against Trump, then close ranks on impeachment. But some may well think it time to circle the wagons around the Constitution and the laws and policies that defend the nation.

So try to find some gracious hope. Silent support for Trump may not always translate into raucous approval of his misdeeds.

It's because they realize that the whistleblower has already been in contact with congressional democrats via backchannel, they know what the dems know, and supporting Rump endangers their own seats.

To essentially stonewall the release of the full report will put them in solidarity against the whistleblower to protect tRump, and their vote to do so would be used by their opponents.

Moscow Mitch is also up for re-election this upcoming cycle and he's already keeping more tRump balls in the air than any circus juggler. Since both the orange shitler and ghouliani admitted live on air that they both did what they were accused of, it doesn't provide much cover for the rethugs in the senate since this is a recent and ongoing situation involving the sitting president*, and not one that happened three years on now before he was installed as president*.

They know what the complaint says and this is their "out" with Trump. If the report doesn't go all the way where we think it goes, they then just say "see, nothing there". If it says what we think it likely does, then they have their "sorry, Mr. Trump, this is too far" angle.

The Law and Order party is going to have a hell of a time explaining why they accept a criminal as leader. The 22 Senate seats they are defending next year will be damn hard to keep if they don’t do something about Trump.

of a CRIMINAL President. That moniker will be hard to kick and piss them off royally.

Those who continue to support Trump in his lawlessness and criminality will pay the price at the Ballot Box. For NO VOTER wants to be associated with TRAITORS to the Constitution. That is what Congressional Republicans will be labeled as come 2020 when they are on the record either voting NO or present when Impeachment is voted on.

For we know right now, the Senate is lock stepped with Trump. Kiss their seats goodbye as Democrats use that against them in Kentucky, Arizona, Colorado, Maine, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and elsewhere.
