Fascinating article now up at The Washington Post outlining Rudys machinations in Ukraine, the ouster of the U.S. Ambassador there at his recommendation, consternation and anger at the growing clusterfuck from John Bolton and other senior officials, great stuff, but, for my money, here is the beef:
The perception of a parallel, hidden agenda intensified in the summer as officials at the NSC, Pentagon and State Department began reacting to rumors that hundreds of millions of dollars of military and intelligence aid to Ukraine was being mysteriously impeded.
There were never any orders given, any formal guidance from the White House to any of the agencies, said a U.S. official familiar with the matter. And the NSC was scratching their heads: How is this possible?
NSC officials, including Tim Morrison, who had replaced Fiona Hill as the senior director for European and Russian affairs, began organizing meetings to try to understand these hidden forces affecting Ukraine policy, officials said.
But even then, clear answers proved elusive. Officials were told that the money was being blocked by the Office of Management and Budget, without any accompanying explanation.
It was bizarre, the official said.

(52,113 posts)that's one of the most head-banging things about donnie managing to get himself into office.
it's one thing for someone to leverage celebrity to get in office when everyone has to guess if they've got the chops.
it's another thing when people got to see how donnie manages and sees that it's a train wreck and then they give him the job anyway. i know, electoral college and everything, but still.
on the apprentice you got to see donnie insisting that everyone kiss his butt.
on the apprentice you got to see donnie sowing dissension in the ranks, getting everyone to stick the knife into everyone else.
on the apprentice you got to see donnie only cares about winning no matter how you do it. if the object was to sell lemonade and you couldn't get anyone to buy because you had a terrible product and terrible branding and terrible marketing and terrible location, but you called a rich buddy and had him come over and give you enough money to beat the other team, well, then donnie was thrilled with that result.
and you got to see donnie judge people less based on their skill set or their achievements but more based on their macho/pseudo-alpha male personalities. he hated it if you said anything nice about the other team or if you volunteered that you were anything less than perfect.
even allowing that it was all staged for television, it showed donnie as a horrendous manager and gave every indication that he would be a horrendous president.
but the media was thrilled to promote his candidacy and give him lopsided airtime like never before.

(3,972 posts)They were and are, still, running a criminal Trump enterprise. That's redundant.
Trump put in place his stooges to do his bidding and that's what they do. Barr, Mulvaney, Pompeo, etc. They are all part of a corrupt organization.
