How could he have been "that dumb?"

I remember that after the Clinton/Lewinsky affair, even Clinton's supporters were disappointed that he "could have been that dumb."

I'm reminded of that as I read the words and context of his telephone call to the Ukraine. There must have been other ways that he could have investigated the Bidens How could he have been "that dumb" in doing it this way.

It's scary

2. I know.. But it's a kind of impunity folks with a conscience can't understand.

People like this live in a world where their crimes go unpunished. They have no fear of doing the wrong thing and accept criminality as their way of life--until somebody finally pulls the curtain on them. That's what we need to do. If we can't shut his criminality off in this instance, I'm worried that we never will get rid of him except to vote him out.

Whitey Bulger was like this until his parade of evil ended.

5. how is it dumb when he got away with nearly the same thing in 2016?

he publicly asked russia to commit espionage against private american citizens for his own personal gain. while dangling official policy changes that would benefit russia. and he gleefully used the contraband that resulted from russian hacks of political opponents.

and the result of all that is that he became president and other than a lot of grumbling, he effectively got away with it.

so why should he think that asking ukraine for similar help against a political opponent would go completely the other way this time?

By saying what he did publicly, he could always toss it off as a joke, but this was personal. Much more obvious

From the moment of his birth can you imagine what would have happened had he been a poor minority? He’d have been dead long ago. Bill wasn’t wealthy but he was the least likely demo to get punished for “bad boy” behavior. You can’t even imagine how entitled they—particularly the rich white guys actually are.

And how spectacularly shocked they are when it fAlls apart.

From corrupt dictators to the Mob to the Vikings to the Romans to Alexander the Great to the Pharoahs.

This is how President Asshole did business his entire life before he became a brand with a TV show.

10. Bank Robbers are usually successful their first few times.

...then they start getting sloppy, i.e. forgetting to ditch the bait pack in the bushes as you run out, hitting the same bank too many times, forgetting to conceal your face, getting greedy and hit more than one teller (they get lucky if they hit the senior teller, but if they get the usual, its probably less than 2k in the drawer), etc.

Add to that, probably was willing to sell someone down the river to take the blame. Giuliani more or less blew it, I bet he was Trump's planned fall guy (doesn't really need him anymore and gets out of a bill).
