There has been an argument that President Obama was too cerebral, that his nuanced language was over the heads of many people. One of the "positive" qualities attributed to both GW Bush and Trump is that they were able to communicate with people at their level. That makes me worried and sad. I understand that many people, especially from racially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds were not able to take advantage of very good educational opportunities. Trump shows a poverty of content when he speaks. He speaks quite a bit but does not necessarily convey any meaningful message. He circles back and repeats things and his vocabulary is limited and often incongruous with what he is describing. When he discussed the "phone call" for instance, and said, "It was a beautiful phone call, a perfect phone call, a 10." That is not how a typical person, or even a person lacking education would describe a phone call. Typically you would hear words like, "pleasant, productive, good, great" and other descriptors. Trump has a very limited way of describing things which either indicates cognitive or intellectual challenges.
