... with the nation's interest.
Knowing narcissism very well... He can't conceive that's what's good for him is any different than what's good for the rest of us.
It's not incompetence, not 3D chess... It's basic default behavior of a malignant narcissist. He doesn't think what he's doing is wrong because his best interests are in everyone's interest... Because he is perfect in his own mind.
To me this is the simplest explanation as to why he'd release such a damning memorandum of a call.

Our political institutions are supposed to protect us from narcissists. They have been weakened recently, we're about to find out if they can hold.

If reports of His use of Speed via snort is true,he better have his will in good order.

(4,919 posts)Everything they know, love, and believe about themselves is slowly being taken away... And, they resort to rage and destruction to convince everyone they are still as wonderful as they once were.
Malignant narcissism (like alcoholism) is a disorder that affects others more than the afflicted. It destroys relationships, family, friendships, companies until they go away or frankly, pass away.

I recognize the dyslectic characteristics at play with Trump. BTW,it ebbs and flows. Some days zero, others, forget about it.

(4,919 posts)I remember watching my narcissistic mother discretely picking up and buying "brain challenge" booklets when checking out at supermarkets, and feeling deep empathy towards her.
Later, I watched her start the booklet and eventually give up and hide it... I found them later and simply cried looking at her attempts to complete basic puzzles... Her narcissism completely prevented her from admitting her decline despite knowing her mother had passed away from Alzheimer's... I think a narcissist's worst and last fear is being discovered to have age-related mental decline. Being smart is the last thing they fight after physical beauty and popularity fades. I was the target of intense rage for things like simply finding my mother had left her car keys in the ignition. It was hell and I thought she was evil then, but now she passed... I have a different perspective.
So, I see a lot of familiar notes watching Trump... The difference regarding his decline is that it's affecting our entire country not just close circle of family members and friends.
I doubt Trump is snorting cocaine, but he may be taking drugs like Aricept or Adderall to help him feel sharper... That could explain the ups and downs... Also, the constant fighting and overcompensation to hide a decline can simply be exhausting for a narcissist.

(4,919 posts)...for correcting me. I was conflating dyslexia with mental decline which it is not, but can be a symptom, maybe.
Why do you think he has dyslexia? Based on his performance with a teleprompter? Also, is dyslexia treated with stimulants? I have ADD, and sometimes think mild dyslexia, but I never thought stimulants helped me with reading... I simply get distracted while reading, and I think I see that in Trump. He often misreads his teleprompter then improvises a recovery.
