is the one about "You won't have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore." Was that the "Checkers speech"? If that's the craziest speech he gave, he has nothing on this current guy in the White House.

Nixon was accused of having a slush fund from rich republicans, so he went on national TV and slung the bullshit big time.

Including invoking the dog, saying he was going to keep it.

But I was in high school and didn't pay too much attention to behind closed doors stuff. On TV Nixon was plain old normal. As a matter of fact, he was too normal and I had a hard time believing everything. (But I was a bit naive...For years, I didn't believe Wayne Williams killed all those kids cuz he didn't look like a killer)

It's been reported that he drunkenly wandered the halls of the White House talking to the portraits of past presidents, and that he was always pretty paranoid. But he wasn't obviously barking mad.

Nixon did whine a bit about how awful the press was to great guys like Haldeman and Erlichman. And he did belly-ache that the Silent Majority loved him. But he acted sane in public. Less so in private, I gather.

And had some legit accomplishments. China being the biggest. The EPA another. He was not for it but signed the bill so gets some credit.

He had issues, was dishonest and a racist creep. And apparently a drunk. But I think part of him really did love the US. And he seemed to genuinely love his family.

Trump has proved time and again the US means nothing to him. Nothing or no one does. Except trump. He thinks of nothing else. He would throw Uday and Qysay under the bus if need to save himself. Jarvanka as well. We already know how he feels about the younger ones and what he thinks of his wives.
