I know a few - and running times are very sacred to them. Do you think Lyin Ryan's outright bullshit will sway the vote with any runners you know?

(32,062 posts)I don't have my times memorized anymore but I can tell you my fastest 5K was 23:21, 10K was 54: something and 10 miles was about 1:30. My 2 marathons were 5:07 and 5:27.
I ran those marathons in 1998 & 2000. I have a scrapbook somewhere with all the newspaper clippings. I wouldn't miss it by an hour for sure and most of my races were chipped and you can get those times off Google even now if you know my maiden name. It's about the only thing my name pulls up as I am not a famous person
That was a really stupid thing to lie about.

(32,062 posts)she had finished a marathon a few weeks before and wasn't really ready for it. It was my first time racing so I just ran along with her and decided to do more of them after that. The marathons about killed me - I was much better at shorter daily runs and 5Ks for races.
