Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) dismissed concerns that Trump violated the law with his request to the Ukrainian president.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) dismissed revelations that Donald Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigative a political opponent an apparent violation of federal election law by suggesting that the story is a "nothing (non-quid pro quo) burger."
Graham, who once urged Trump to "go to hell" but now is one of his fiercest defenders, tweeted on Wednesday morning that he could not believe House Democrats had launched an impeachment inquiry over Trump's clear efforts to pressure a foreign leader to help him get reelected.
Wow. Impeachment over this?" Graham asked. "What a nothing (non-quid pro quo) burger. Democrats have lost their minds when it comes to President @realDonaldTrump."

(24,287 posts)Gringrich and Livingstone were screwing their mistresses while telling us how awful bill Clinton was. Some things never change. Democrats fight for jobs, Republicans lie and show their true hypocrisy.

(12,712 posts)I have said it before, there will be a cavalcade of posturing and testing the waters. I think they will be floating all kinds of absurd ideas.
One reason is to reinforce those in their base who take their word for things without knowing much or investigating. "See Martha, it's a nothing burger! Demacrats lost thur minds again!"
Another reason is to see what might work or stick in the media, generally even though their ideas and sound bytes don't change the facts involved, they can try to spin as much as possible.
However, I think their nothing burgers will hit the wall and slide to the floor over and over again. In the long run, it smacks of desperation and hair on fire reactions that may actually backfire. They are walking a line here because Trump's stink is going to stick to those who embrace him like that.
