(24,393 posts)Personally, I'd love her to pick Hillary Clinton. Then Hillary could pick her VP, maybe Warren, maybe Harris. Then she can decide to not run in 2020. I'd love to see that.

(11,256 posts)Nancy Pelosi understands situational politics better than just about everyone. I know what the Constitution says, but she'd never allow for anything that could be seen as a power grab. Even if Trump and Pence both go down, she'd likely find a caretaker POTUS to finish the term.
It's not happening.

(11,256 posts)She'd likely work out a deal with McConnell to confirm a replacement for Pence. And yes, it would be a Republican. It's just too close to the 2020 election to risk this being seen as a power grab. Pelosi is way too smart for that to happen. A Democrat needs to be inaugurated in January 2021. That's the most important thing.

(15,364 posts)Senate Republicans might vote to remove Trump, but they won't remove Pence unless he gets a VP of his own first, nor would I blame them for this demand. Senate Republicans are not dumb enough to remove both at once.
