If Donnie goes down for his stuff with the Ukrainians, or if he strokes out or flatlines and Father Pence becomes President Pence. I’d be very interested to see how our candidates would fare against a man so unpopular that he took the offer to be Trump’s Veep running-mate as a golden parachute.

I’m old enough to remember the 1976 election. A lot of people came out to vote Democratic because they felt that the stench of the Nixon years still cling to Gerry Ford.

I doubt so many of the relieved citizenry would stay home next year. If Donnie went out/went down in the next 14 months or less, Father Pence wouldn’t have time to establish his own political identity. Mike Pence is tainted with Trump scandals in ways that Gerald Ford never was with Nixon’s stuff (except for the pardon).

Another factor is how many of the Trumpie loyalists would turn out to vote for Father Pence? I might think that fewer would, but it WOULD be nice to have some polling numbers.
