He was not out of his depth.
He was not manipulated.
He was not ignorant.
He was career navy seal. He was a vice admiral in the navy. He helped run the National Counterterrorism Center. He was tapped by Dan Coats for DNI.
You don't get into these positions without knowing how the intelligence community works, what the requirements are and how to do your job.
You especially don't get to be DNI by being ignorant of the law or easy manipulated. Maguire knew he was supposed to turn that complaint over. He's not a stupid man. He knew.
We can all debate the reasons why he chose to ignore the law be it that he's corrupt or enjoys the power of his position.
There are zero exceptions when it comes to turning over whistleblower complaints. Maguire knows this and yet he still chose to keep it from congress.
Don't turn him into a "good guy who got caught up in tRump's whirlwind".
He's the kind of person that's supposed to safeguard...not be complicit.

(14,916 posts)He has violated his oath(s), quite clearly and explicitly. He needs to be removed from any position of trust in the US government. Unfortunately we'll just add his name to a very, very long list os such people created during the Trump admin.

(11,885 posts)And ran to the White House 1 st and broke the law by not giving Congress the documents within the 7days as stated by law, and if trump was part of this delay he again obstructed , and conspired to do it using others , including Barr, and ghoulish I.
