Prediction: tRump will sue to try to stop impeachment

He dropped a trial balloon today along those lines. That’s a good indicator that Team tRump is already exploring a strategy that involves derailing the impeachment through some legal action.

But a lawsuit would have the effect of delaying things and the media can't stop themselves from being distracted by even the most transparent stalling tactics the administration throws out there.

I think in this case, nothing will be delayed.

I suspect any attorney filing this suit risks a claim of frivolous filing.

He could certainly try, but the SC would reject it. Impeachment is clearly in the Constitutional purview of the House.

I personally think they are in way deep russian repug mode and will protect him illegally, same as SCOTUS did with Bush. And yes - we are not America if this happens because drumpf will continue to escalate his behavior, steal the office, break every law and destroy us liberals and our liberal laws and multicultural way of life.

It's perfectly clear Constitutionally. In fact, it's probably the most cut-and-dried topic they're likely to ever face. Trump knows this - as usual, he's just blowing smoke.

Roberts is concerned about the legacy of the SC and won't touch it with a ten-foot-pole. In addition, because it involves POTUS, it would be fast-tracked. It's going nowhere.

I'd be sleeping better. I keep thinking we are in the run up to something very like Hitlers' Germany and they will go along. They made an unconstitutional decision, for their own benefit and will do the same here. I hope you are right but fear not.

And the funny thing is, who in that dysfunctional, merry-go-round of numbskull White House advisors draws the short straw to tell the great tRump that "You have no standing, Mr President". Leave it to Rudy, I guess.

desperation has set in. The Courts have no role in impeachment proceedings, other than possibly officiating over a trial in the Senate, as the former Chief Justice did in 1999.

He's already done at least one act and I bet that there have been other illegal acts. Why not? He's (initially thinking he got away w/ it - other illegal act(s)) reeks of illegality and reeks of desperation now. I suspect that he's going to declare a national emergency and attempt to suspend elections (this won't fly, being that in other times of national emergency such as the civil war, etc., elections were still held). And sadly, this attempt to suspend elections won't be the only thing.

In his own mind, desperate times call for desperate measures and perhaps when this happens, the rest of the repugs in the House and Senate will finally see the writing on the wall, and join in impeachment too. What else can they do? By continuing to support this illegally elected president, they themselves are holding themselves above the constitution and its amendments.

Dire times indeed.
