What if the GOP convinces Trump to resign, or actually votes to impeach.

Where could the Trump cultists go?

The KKK is no longer open and active. While racism is still a huge force both institutionally and individually, there are simply not enough racists to compete with the big tent appeal of the Democratic Party.

The Nazis are a fringe group.

The proud boys are too few.

My premise is that if Trump either resigns or is impeached, angry Trump cultists will have few options. Do they refuse to engage with the GOP, fatally weakening it?

Do they form a third Party?

Do they vote for another GOP candidate?

The Deplorables will abandon them.

A no vote in the senate after he’s impeached will leave them forever in history as senators who let Trump get away with multiple crimes.

That's what we need to fix. But how? Pay them less? AOC showed why that's not feasible, for freshmen at least. Besides, they get to decide how much they make (another thing that needs to change).

Term limits maybe? I admit I have no great ideas.

He might, if he could frame it as his choice and a victory.

Or, he could claim to be a victim of the deep state.
