You need 1/2 of cabinet plus VP, 2/3 of House and 2/3 of Senate. *Maybe* the GOP will decide the optics are somehow better that way, but it is also a harder lift.

7. Based on what tho? One of the people who wrote the 25th said

it wasn't meant to be a remedy for buyers' remorse. He pointed out that Trump is still the person millions voted for. He hasn't really changed -- more obviously angry perhaps, but this is what they elected. Even the narcissistic rages were seen throughout his campaigning.

I believe you're right that the Republicans and the enormous powers backing them would ditch Trump the instant they thought they could hold or gain power in 2020 without him. No doubt their best, most ruthless minds have been arguing over strategies till steam comes out of their ears. Over and over. This whole presidency has been an extremely fluid situation, and every change is a potential opportunity to win all: how to use it?

and if we had the votes for either, they'd convince him to resign, so it wouldn't actually happen anyway.

the 25th is only happening if he's really incapacitated, and even then, they'd likely weekend-at-bernie's him.

11. Whatever they do

They will do it within the next three months. It just doesn't look tenable for Trump to remain President and certainly not possible for him to be the 2020 candidate. We know his mental state wont get any better and its gone down hill in the last month.

The "GOP Brass" and the money men will probably have a few "secret" meetings and decide what the best path forward is and who should be the candidate. If they were smart - and they're probably not - they force Trump out, have Pence pardon him and run a Kasich/Hailey ticket for 2020 and would at least retain the Senate and have a chance at the WH. This is the perfect time/place for any GOP primary seeker to convince the GOP voters that Trump can't win re-election and they better go with someone else.

Ask yourself this one serious question: How can the GOP run a guy with an under 40% approval rating who has already attempted to interfere in the election and who keeps stating that doing so is not wrong or inappropriate? A man who unquestionably has violated his oath to office and, under any rational interpretation of Federal Statutes, violated several laws? If they don't remove him, they are losing the WH, aren't taking back the House and could lose the Senate. When they conclude that POWER - not Trump - is what they wish to retain, then they will sit him down and move forward with the best chance of retaining that power. IMO - given that the Democrats have so many voters who want someone other than Biden being the candidate, the Republicans would have a good shot retaining the WH with a legit candidate. Otherwise, "everybody" goes to the poll to make sure Trump and his GOP enablers get the boot and the "never Trump" Republicans stay home in protest.
