The Day After...impeachment

We've all been too worried the asshole in charge isn't going to leave office after 2020 claiming President forever.

But with everything that's happened the last week and his mind finally going, I worry more about him finally realizing (in some crazy burst of sanity) that he's being impeached, ridiculed and is a total laughing stock then deciding to board Air Force 1 and head to Moscow.

Maybe not so bad you think? Whether you know it or not, he still has the launch codes and is fully capable of executing them from anywhere including Air Force 1 as it approaches moscow. He's also capable of delaying our counter strike in case Vlad pushes the button. Are you listening Generals?

Barry Maguire said it best in 1965's Eve of Destruction":
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be no one to save,
with the world in a grave.

Could be a long 24 hours of holding our breath after impeachment for America and the World.

Happy thoughts!

Someone posted something, yesterday, about how they handled this situation when Nixon's behavior took a scary turn.

My wishful thinking is that they are already changing the codes.

told military commanders that if Nixon ordered a nuclear strike they needed to check with him first before executing it. And they took the "football" away from Nixon before he left the White House - just in case.

...Even though Nixon had more than two hours left in his tenure, the most critical tool of the modern presidency had already been taken away from him. He never noticed it, but the nuclear “football” didn’t travel with him as he boarded the helicopter, and later, Air Force One for his flight back to California.

In a democratic country without hereditary power, royal crowns or bejeweled thrones, the nuclear football is in some ways the only physical manifestation of our nation’s head of state.

Yet, on that August day, it had been quietly removed from Nixon’s hands—remaining behind at the White House with the incoming commander-in-chief, Gerald Ford.

Moreover, Defense Secretary James Schlesinger recalled years later that in the final days of the Nixon presidency he had issued an unprecedented set of orders: If the president gave any nuclear launch order, military commanders should check with either him or Secretary of State Henry Kissinger before executing them. Schlesinger feared that the president, who seemed depressed and was drinking heavily, might order Armageddon. Nixon himself had stoked official fears during a meeting with congressmen during which he reportedly said, “I can go in my office and pick up a telephone, and in 25 minutes, millions of people will be dead.” Senator Alan Cranston had phoned Schlesinger, warning about “the need for keeping a berserk president from plunging us into a holocaust.”

I don't want trump* OR Pence to have any access. Pence is just that kind of christian wacko who might just try triggering the 'end times'.

Putin isn't really his friend; he's nothing more than Putin's useful idiot, and once he's out of office Putin won't piss on him if he catches fire.

Use will he be to Putin anymore? I see him being served polonium tea in Moscow. Of course he could be served it anywhere.

what prompted that was the days just before that... Nixon's paranoia (reportedly wandering the halls in the White House and talking to the portraits of Presidents)... and he ordered the troops to Defcon X (I don't remember the exact level)... but it made everyone very nervous.

and then years later, rumors would circulate that an old bearded man matching his description has been seen on the beach of a private Caribbean island, relaxing in the shade and sipping a daiquiri...

The only thing I see preventing that scenario is Trump's addiction to adulation, but that could be quenched by his privately watching old videos of his campaign rallies.

Is he will board Air Force One, fly to Moscow then order a launch of nuclear missiles.

Where do you think those missiles will be going?
