According to a New York Times report, the White House learned within days that the unorthodox call on 25 July with Zelenskiy had raised red flags among intelligence professionals and was likely to trigger an official complaint.
That timeline has raised new questions over the timing of the Trumps dismissal by tweet of the director of national intelligence (DNI), Dan Coats, on 28 July and his insistence that the deputy DNI, Sue Gordon, a career intelligence professional, did not step into the role, even in an acting capacity.

And, the director was fired via tweet!
Posted for those of us that did not know about this, as I did not.

Or maybe not. Dan never received the complaint. Barr is in this up to his sleazy eye balls.

Coats and Gordon are critical impeachment witnesses, and may be beyond any claims of privilege since they no longer work for the executive branch.
BTW, what is the penalty for violating executive privilege, other than losing your job? There's no criminal statute that I am aware of, only disbarment if it's attorney client privilege.

He poisons everything he touches. FFS, he bankrupted a CASINO!! How do you even do that?

(53,410 posts)A favorite business practice of Mitt Romney and his buddies.
Enter a good company as consultants at exorbitant fees, do some so-called studies where they find a so-called problem which they just happen to specialize in and then proceed to charge the company millions of dollars and bankrupt the company. If they think they can get more out of the company they buy it at a lower price, but usually what they do is leave the company with millions for themselves and the company in the process of laying off all their employees and failing because they cant pay the debts theyre left with. The other result is the employees are clean out of luck.
This vulture capitalism has ruined entire towns in many states, leaving them permanently ruined, because a lot of towns are one company towns.

(6,783 posts)When it all came down, didn't he? Trump had been getting edgy about having Coates around for quite a while. As I recall. I haven't read the guardian article yet. In the hearing McGrath mentioned Coates impeccable timing at being gone just before the WB complaint arrived.

(19,186 posts)or through subordinates. He's a gutless coward who doesn't have the balls to do anything like that in person.
"Only the best people", in Trumpese means, "only people who will do my bidding, and won't let silly things like laws and propriety get in the way of making me look good".
Trump is the biggest con-man and coward to ever throw his hat into the political arena. He's a despicable adolescent with none of the good qualities human beings usually possess.
