This was a phrase used by Donald Trump last Monday while meeting with the Pakistani leader.
What should we read into those words?
It shows where his mind is at this time. He didn't just win an election - he took over the country.
There was a lot of opportunities to make money. There were many deals to be made.
His connections would come in handy. He could pay off his debts.
He could become best friends with Vladimir Putin.
He might win the Nobel Prize?

(12,712 posts)He has a built in habit of speaking in similar ways, kind of like the mobster not directly threatening to burn your pizza place down, but telling you what a shame it would be if "something where to happen to it" in a shakedown.
So, that's a pattern and, often, it is the phrasing and omissions that matter.
For instance "When I took over, (the job of being President of) the United States". In other words, it says what we think it does, but the way it is put matters. His supporters are left to fill in the blanks when he is speaking covertly, though he does use overt rhetoric, too. It's a two-prong, shyster salesman verbal game he is very used to, so it is second nature.
Think of all the major screwing this representative of deception and manipulation has inflicted on people, including women, business folks, municipalities, contractors, tenants, etc., for all of his adult life. Art of the deal? Satan is little league compared to this guy. Even Faust's Devil can't compare on these kinds of deals. Those being fictional characters, we have the real deal, incarnate and in our midst, and for gosh sake, in the highest office? In this case, the truth proves to be stranger than fiction once again.
This is like a country being sprayed with toxins and then developing a near-fatal metastasis. We have an orange tumor. Impeachment is like chemo or surgery at this stage.
