Was watching a lengthy car-repair video, and every ad interruption was some Trump-apologist thing, like an image of Trump with words like "Trump wants to know what you think about SOCIALISM!!1 Scary liberal policies... blah blah..." or a hipster-looking 20-something telling me that the mainstream media gets it all wrong and Obama is the problem...
Is this prevalent? Is this new? Are YouTube ads a good place where Democrats should be presenting facts and making the case against Republicans in general and Trump in particular?

(41,960 posts)Aint much but its something. And its telling it was a car repair video. They imagine Democrats not to do that sort of thing I suppose.

(12,809 posts)I'm not too savvy about YouTube monetization. I assumed it was like websites that just have placeholders for GoogleAds and then Google pushes ads into the spot with no involvement from the site's publisher. (But then, maybe I'm wrong about how that works. too!)

(12,809 posts)I like to think, at least, that they are "wasted" ad impressions here, and I'm happy to help them waste their money.

I would think that YT would be using tracking and algorithms and that the ad content is out of the creator's hands.

(5,477 posts)My browser's ad blockers must be very good at taking care of them - I never see one (other than when the person doing the video themselves doing an inline 'ad' for one of their content sponsors). I never get any interruptions or get forced to see anything before the videos start.
