(5,318 posts)But you are right. Too dumb to realise abuse and confrontation isn't working.
I've realised that the current turmoil in the US has nothing to do with politics.
It's a class struggle. And a race struggle.
On the one side you have the established, white male Power Guard, who firmly believe they have the power, and only they are entitled to it, that God is on their side (hello Pence) and raping the environment is OK, and people of colour are minorities that need to be kept in their place.
The Republican Party is full of them, but the Power Guard is deeply entrenched throughout society.
Then there are the Power Guard supporters, who believe they need a piece of the power/money action too, and supporting those in power is the best way to do it.
Trump is desperate to keep the whole entitled white male supremacy thing going, and has been asking for support from overseas dictators and people in power. They know what he wants, and they have a common response - Donald, you are too dumb to carry it off. No help from us.
On the other side, we have those who are saying 'this is all wrong', it should be about the Common Good, not acquisition of power and money. Interesting that this group is younger, of mixed gender and ethnic origin. And yes, it has some white males in their midst!
Then there is Greta, who really cranked up the 'you are doing it wrong' message.
There is a third, large group I call the Innocents. People who just want to get on with life with little fuss, eke out a living, concentrate on doing the right thing by their country, themselves, their family. The hidden masses, who really need to get out there and speak up, and vote. Not for a party, but for social change.
Changes are afoot . . . hopefully.
