Donald Trump is not the first American president staring down impeachment to nurse a deep sense of persecution and self-pity. But he is the first to broadcast that mentality to the world.
In the five days since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) opened an impeachment inquiry following revelations about President Trumps conduct with his Ukrainian counterpart, Trump has been determined to cast himself as a singular victim in a warped reality a portrayal that seems part political survival strategy, part virtual therapy session.
As Trump tells it, he is a hard-working and honorable president whose conduct has been perfect but who is being harassed and tormented by Do Nothing Democrat Savages and a corrupt intelligence community resolved to perpetuate a hoax, defraud the public and, ultimately, undo the 2016 election.
There has been no President in the history of our Country who has been treated so badly as I have, Trump tweeted Wednesday, some 13 hours after Pelosis announcement.

(12,712 posts)There are two aspects to public repetition.
One is that, when something is repeated in the right way, true or not, people can tend to simply believe it. That is often the case when there is no analysis or critical thinking about the statement or for people who take a person's word for it.
The second is that, if you continue as Trump has done and use it in that way, the impact of your tactic will eventually backfire because it becomes more obvious to more people what you are doing. In a media-driven culture and time, that can create a sense of boredom or insensitivity to the message.
We can imagine that the cult-like devotees of the authoritarian Father figure will feed off the repetition like good little followers and use them to reinforce their beliefs. However, generally speaking, the sheer repetition of common manipulative tactics is going to lose its import for those who may be less prone to mindless acceptance.

He is in the most powerful job in the world and the sad, pathetic freak is being abused because he's being held to account for his actions.
How much more rediculus, miserably inadequate and feeble can he be? Act like an adult and resign already you putz.
