i just saw a clip of Hillary speaking on Joy's show and she was so articulate, smart,
and nuanced that I almost broke down over what should have been. America was
robbed.
No better proof exists that right-wingers hate America than their unquenchable desire to rob us of good leadership.

(1,639 posts)On election day he was talking to some extended family members around the kitchen table. While they were all citing their reasons for voting for Trump, he added that Hillary was so corrupt that she--and here he lowered his voice--even had someone killed.
I guess he lowered his voice because he thought that she could hear him? Or, maybe because I was living there at the time, he feared that I was one of her spies.
Living in a Trump household was one of the most stressful experiences in my life. Even after he "won", it felt like there was so much anger in the air all the time.

(28,787 posts)foxbots are on permanent rage. what binds them is their hatred and who they can hurt, not who they can help. my foxbot brother is an unapologetic racist. my foxbot sister's bogeyman is migrants. neither of them will listen to reason. so we don't talk much. my sister's going through a really bad time in her life so we talk, but not politics. i'm on the other side of the country but she's very vulnerable right now; i cannot even contemplate abandoning her.

(1,639 posts)There is a particular heartache in loving people who are troubled and mis-directed in their emotions.
It would be so much simpler if all racists were terrible people in everyway with no redeemable qualities whatsoever. Sometimes, however, they are wonderful people in many ways. And those who love them are left to wonder why they can't see past their narrow ideas regarding other people.

(4,341 posts)Wasn't the president of CBS the one who said that the circus was great for making money and to bring it on?
The entire media is guilty as well, and they continue with the show, anything the creature does they celebrate it in some way or another. The fact that some of them show rage doesn't matter, they need to learn to ignore some of the stupidities of the creature, I know 99% of it is stupidity, but at least be selective because all he wants is to dominate the news, ignore the SOB.
I didn't see any of the networks defending Hillary, they all chimed in in the same circus. Granted that some of them did not report it as truth, but they didn't defend it either. The saddest thing is that the circus continues, every day we have the same show with slightly different script.

I will never forget Trump stalking Hillary on stage, in front of the entire country, and no-one stopped him. I was aghast. She had become a victim of a serial sex offender and predator right in front of our eyes.

My hatred for him is like the burning fire of a thousand suns. I will NEVER forget. And of those who voted for him - it wont be easy to forgive either. And I keep reminding myself that Jesus forgave His killers even while hanging on the Cross, so who the heck am I to do less? But its damn hard!!!

(33,513 posts)Every single woman hater in the United States, from Lauer on down, worked to install a misogynist in office, one with small hands and a small and withered mind.
It was a tremendous lost opportunity for America, and in the sense that the Russians installed an open traitor and spy in the office of the Presidency, a known ignoramus, it was a successful military attack on the US.

(5,810 posts)My next thought was....she has gone on with her life. She has collaborated with her daughter to produce another book. She is not spending her days and nights thinking about what might have been. This should be an inspiring message to us. Even when life beats you up, slaps you around, you can choose to hold your head high and carry on. I admire her more than ever for not letting what happened to her derail her life. She has endured over and over and so her life is testimony to what having a drive to live out loud can do. The will to move forward and succeed even when dealt a really difficult hand triumphs again. Her place in American history is secured and in a way the tRump will never have. Who gets the last laugh now?
thanx

(1,639 posts)I think about Jimmy Carter and all that he has continued to achieve on a world-wide scale. To many people, his defeat was seen as a humilation. Mr. Carter, however, did not curl into a ball and lick his wounds. He directed his energy towards helping others. He showed enormous character.
HRC is also made from strong, wise stuff. She continues to serve in the capacity presented to her.
Whatshis face, however, is weak, lacks character altogether and has no concept of what it means to serve others.
History will mark these essential facts.

His place in history is assured and we can all use his example of how one deals with a so-called defeat. Hillary Clinton must have used his playbook because she is forging a similar path. Hold your head high and aim for the stars!

Sooooo threatened by this towering, brilliant, and magnificent woman. Hard to wrap my brain around, frankly. I just dont get how threatened they are by her.
Maybe all her marvelous accomplishments make them jealous or something? Or force them to confront their own inadequacy that they would rather not have to face? Because they didnt make as much of their lives as she has? That whole zero-sum game thing?

(23,654 posts)Had Hillary been elected and with the House and Senate we had for the 1st 2 years, she would have been blocked at every initiative. HRC would have had to do much of her legislating by executive orders, while not needing Congress's approval, would probably have been challenged in the courts.
She might have been able to get a moderate SC judge appointed, although McConnell swore he would block her every appointment. Justice Kennedy probably would not have resigned. Maybe RBG would have resigned, but only if it was certain HRC could have gotten a candidate appointed.
Not sure how this would have played out in the 2018 mid-terms. If HRC in office with the endless Republican attacks, would have resulted in the same great election results we did get. Afterall, a lot of the blue wave was in response to the tyrannical governing of Trump and the Republicans.
At least the 1st two years would have been a complete Republican attack. Her emails, Bill's infidelities, Seth Rich's murder, it would be endless conspiracies.
So would I have loved to see HRC elected.....absolutely. I was a big supporter.
But I wonder now that we know how much foreign influence there was and is, if she would ever have been allowed to govern. The political environment would be so toxic, just like it is now, but perhaps toward the Democrats, rather than the Republican.
So maybe in the end result, while there is so much to heal and repair once Trump is out of office, we may actually end up better off in the long run. The public, particularly the younger generations are seeing the corruption of the RW. We are the party of climate change, the environment, education, healthcare, equality, and so many other GOOD initiatives to move this country forward.
I may be "whistling in the dark", but that's how I deal with it.
