Biden Campaign Demands TV News Execs Stop Booking Giuliani

Biden Campaign Demands TV News Execs Stop Booking Giuliani
In a Sunday letter, the former vice president’s aides say that it is editorially irresponsible to book the president’s personal lawyer.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign made an extraordinary request to executives of top news channels on Sunday, asking them to no longer book Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, on their programs.

In a letter addressed to the heads of the major news and cable networks, as well as top news anchors, two top Biden campaign advisers make the case that by peddling routine falsehoods about the work of Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine, Giuliani’s presence on the airwaves is editorially untenable.

“We are writing today with grave concern that you continue to book Rudy Giuliani on your air to spread false, debunked conspiracy theories on behalf of Donald Trump. While you often fact check his statements in real time during your discussions, that is no longer enough. By giving him your air time, you are allowing him to introduce increasingly unhinged, unfounded and desperate lies into the national conversation,” the letter from top aides Anita Dunn and Kate Bedingfield reads.

“We write to demand that in service to the facts, you no longer book Rudy Giuliani, a surrogate for Donald Trump who has demonstrated that he will knowingly and willingly lie in order to advance his own narrative,” the letter continues.

The Biden campaign letter goes on to note that “Giuliani is not a public official, and holds no public office that would entitle him to opine on the nation’s airwaves.” And it demands that if the former mayor is put on the airwaves, “an equivalent amount of time” be given “to a surrogate for the Biden campaign.”

This morning I saw him responding to repeated requests to answer a question by saying he wouldn't answer it till he was given more time to talk about what he wanted to talk about.

So they're basically just giving him a platform.

that he not be booked.

This is still America, and we still have a First Amendment, and politicians have no business ordering the press to do anything.

There are exceptions to this, of course, like during wartime, but they are rare and should never become a habit.

Rudy will now use it on his next appearance. Yes, there will of course be another appearance, and another after that. MSM media are not on our side, they are on the side of profits, and nothing brings in viewers more than a Giuliani level meltdown, facts are secondary. In fact Biden's "demand" will only exacerbate his appearances. Rudy, Trump, and every other Republican will twist this into "Deep State Democrats want to control who gets to have freedom of speech!" " Democrats want to deny President Trump his constitutional right to be represented by his lawyer!" etc...

Giuliani is a gold mine of self admitting defeating pronouncements a walking talking wrecking crew. With as much damage as he creates could it be possible Rudi is responsible for damaging Trump leaks. His damage to Trump is so mindless no one might suspect.

that if Giuliani is interviewed, he should be first asked if he is speaking on behalf of the President of the United States and if he is fully aware that anything he says may be used against him or tRump in a court of law. Just to add a little gravity.

Asking for equal time is useless. Just like replying to a tRump Tweet, once the original statement hits the internet, it and only it will have much impact. Only the original on-air statement or tweet will be remembered. Such is the law of the Bully Pulpit.
