Rep. Adam Schiff illegally made up a FAKE & terrible statement, pretended it to be mine as the most important part of my call to the Ukrainian President, and read it aloud to Congress and the American people. It bore NO relationship to what I said on the call. Arrest for Treason?

Schiff paraphrased tRump's conversation. Mostly it was accurate, but it was clear that for example when Schiff said tRump had told Zelensky he would tell him seven times to get dirt on Biden that that was a parody. Schiff has explained that when the GOP committee members feigned incredulity he made clear to everyone that those were not tRump's actual words.

The "transcript" is not the whole story of course, even if it was complete.

I don't know how many times I have used, "He's an idiot" as a reply title. I'd say at least a handful, though I could certainly use it in every thread about Trump.

I have mixed feelings about what Adam Schiff did with the interpretive reading of the transcript. On one hand, it was a good summary of the intent of the transcript and for people who are just tuning in to what Trump has been doing the past 3 years, it was a good grounding in his basic demeanor toward the office of the president. On the other hand, Schiff's reading may have opened the door to criticism about the veracity of the interpretation which could lead to another distracting argument.

Ultimately, I think Schiff is fine in what he did and the way overblown reaction from Trump just serves to make Trump seem the stupid crazy person he is.

19. The Way I Understood What Adam Schiff Did & Said Is This.....

He stated what was in the description of the telephone call that was made available to the committee from the WH. Then he went on to illustrate how it would have sounded if a mafioso would say the same thing in their lingo.

Something to the effect that if the American Public doesn't understand what Trump was conveying to the Ukrainian president - maybe they'd understand what was conveyed by hearing it in the lingo that they are used to in mobster movies or TV.

He didn't say that this is what Trump actually said - but he said that this is what the intent of what Trump was trying to get across to the Ukrainian president.

Is that how others here on DU interpreted it?
