(5,393 posts)Whether he directed State Dept resources to be at Asshole's or Guiliani's disposal is the question. Or whether his recall of Yovanovitch crossed lines.
Is that how "Special Envoy" Volker came to be involved? Let's find out.

In Watergate, Ehrlichman and Mitchell did time. That is an anomaly. More typical is what happened to John Poindexter - pardons, fines, probation, suspended sentences.

(53,342 posts)Mr. Pompeos participation on the call hasnt been previously reported. Last week, a State Department official disputed the contention in a complaint filed under federal whistleblower laws by a Central Intelligence Agency officer that another top State Department official, counselor Ulrich Brechbuhl, listened in on the call.
House Democrats have opened an impeachment inquiry focused on Mr. Trumps dealings with Ukraine, and lawmakers are focusing on the whistleblower complaint and a record of the call released by the administration.
...
Three House committees on Friday subpoenaed Mr. Pompeo for documents related to the inquiry; the secretary has until Oct. 4 to produce them. Separately, the committees plan to depose five current or former State Department officials regarding Ukraine.

(10,721 posts)It seems a given that the Secretary of State would be one of them. My only point being that I don't see why this is breaking news.
When calls are made, people are gathered in the situation room or elsewhere. With Trump, the difference is that those individuals then have to hide the records due to politically-sensitive content instead of security-sensitive content.
Get the contents of that server, Schiff.

(53,061 posts)of the call. He said that he wasn't as he hadn't seen the transcripts of the call.
That kind of misleading comment demonstrates consciousness of guilt, if there was nothing wrong with the call why feign ignorance.
Giuliani is pulling him into the lines of communication which exposes Pompeo is walking into a conspiracy cave.
Garrett78
(10,721 posts)...then, as you say, that demonstrates consciousness of guilt.
What would be surprising is if he wasn't listening when the call was made. Then again, given that Trump has apparently invited foreign leaders to call him on his cell phone, there's no telling how many conversations with foreign leaders that asshole has had without anyone even knowing about it.

(10,721 posts)So, I guess I was wrong. I figured that with numerous people listening to such calls, the SoS would likely be one of them. But I guess not. Lower level State Dept. people, I suppose.

(53,061 posts)This was a congratulatory call which normally would be short, friendly and only superficially touch on subjects that would be followed up on at the ambassador level.
If they knew it was going to be substantive the SOS would want to sit with the President.

(75 posts)Wasn't this clear when Giuliani said as much on national TV? Wouldn't be shocked if (Giuliani) has the receipts on all the skulduggery.
It's clear the GOP stepped in a pile when Mr. Trump won the primary. The GOP quickly realized he was now their problem. Enter stage right: William "nothing to see here" Barr.
It's always been clear to me, Barr was there to contain and clean. Sent by the power elite in the GOP. Guys like Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, etc are just B-list & C-list stars.
The real A-listers have been trying their hardest to keep the circus within the tent. That's why we have Justice Kavanaugh too. He was a famous A-listers legal counsel and knows where every single body is buried. That's the real reason the GOP wanted him. Look at Justice Kavanaugh record during his time at the White House....

But it's kinda been the job of the president, to handle that kinda stuff:

It's not in our interest that we turn removal of cabinet members into a political game. As it could come back to haunt ya. So it's not done often.
