(104,922 posts)If our side was half as "vicious" as our opponents, we'd know exactly WHY. Just sayin.

(34,713 posts)Most assuredly these guys took bribes or phony campaign contributions and the proof "somehow" fell into Chump's teeny-weeny hands. I have no doubt that Chump is good at blackmailing people.

But I question the judgement of anyone who'd point to incompetent and cowardly Trump alone.
Republicans in government have become so ideologically extreme and intensely corrupt, and the behaviors of a number of powerful people so bizarrely changed from what they once were, that I'm prepared to believe most are seriously vulnerable to blackmail and others are already serving handlers, some probably mostly willingly.
But the list of foreign and domestic enemies whose interests require keeping controllable and amenable Republicans in power, and Democrats out, has to be very long.

(15,849 posts)but Graham wants to keep his seat, Trump's still popular in SC and Graham has embraced him because it helps Graham politically. Although how much longer that's the case, who knows? What will be interesting to see is if Graham abandons Trump once he's not politically helpful.

(10,749 posts)Graham needs Trump to feel important, get media exposure, and he enjoys playing second fiddle to the powerful.
Trump benefits from Graham, who once seemed more moderate and was besties with maverick McCain, for his past stances on Russia, military use, and Trump himself. Having Graham's support now, on things Graham was vehemently against prior to this WH confuses things.
Trump, no doubt has dirt on Lindsey (more than the pretty obvious), but Lindsey by now after palling around must have some pretty juicy stuff on Trump and the state of Trump's mind. Trump loves to boast of getting away with misdeeds and crimes, it shows how "smart" and powerful he is. The "when you are a celebrity, they let you do anything" like...conversations must be endless.
Neither gives a damn currently about the country.

(18,486 posts)that would blow the roof off if everyone knew it, are usually fairly low level people trying to sound important and in the know by spreading rumors to show off for their friends.
And people senior enough to know this kind of information don't casually mention it to random crime novelists.
