Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano strongly suggests President Donald Trump has committed an impeachable offense by withholding Ukraine military aid as leverage to seek campaign dirt on Joe Biden.
The conservative legal analyst and former New Jersey Superior Court judge lays out evidence in a new column posted on the Fox News website that Trump broke at least three laws as part of the scheme.
The criminal behavior to which Trump has admitted is much more grave than anything alleged or unearthed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and much of what Mueller revealed was impeachable, Napolitano wrote.

The legal analyst said the founders and lawmakers who wrote campaign finance statutes specifically intended to keep foreign interference out of U.S. elections, and Mueller spent nearly two years investigating Russian efforts to sway the 2016 election which he said makes Trumps admitted behavior inexcusable

(65,502 posts)critical of Trump on Ukraine, though this is his first direct call for impeachment. Maybe FOX is beginning to pivot.
If Trump loses FOX, he is toast.
We will get some clue if Napolitano suddenly stops appearing on FOX, or if the attacks on him by the opinion guys are allowed to seriously ramp up and become more vicious.

(5,504 posts)If it wasn't Trump would release the call just so he could run a victory lap around "fake" news. Because that's how he operates. But that's not the case.

(42,770 posts)Transcript before trump "..." it? Right? I was thinking that they would have had to have printed it out - off the secret server. Because they edited from it. It was obvious to me that it wasn't a recreation from notes and recollections like they stupidly claimed. So there's Barr (trump said he wrote the "transcript" and likely a couple admin assts. They would all know the gist of what trump redacted.

(5,504 posts)I'm sure all of these calls are recorded. Let everyone listen to what was said. This will never happen because it is too damning.
If there is any real national security secrets on the call then just play it for the intelligence committees.

(42,770 posts)for clarification and correction. Like you have to do when you create a text on your phone with the microphone. But won't getting this really take a long time? Like subpoena the courts and then maybe SC?

Trump has also admitted to accusing the as-yet publicly unnamed whistleblower of treason, and suggesting that the whistleblower and those who have helped him are spies and ought to be treated as spies were in "the old days" (Trumps phrase) that is, by hanging.
The presidents allusions to violence are palpably dangerous. They will give cover to crazies who crave violence, as other intemperate words of his have done. His words have already produced offers of "bounties" in return for outing and finding the whistleblower.
Trump also suggested that his impeachment would produce a second American Civil War. This language is a dog whistle to the deranged.

Notice he also says "much of what Mueller revealed was also impeachable." I think Napolitano has had it up to here with Trump's criminality, and has no more f**ks to give.

Every time I hear somebody like Scarborough decrying how horrible trump is - well hell, you helped build this Frankenstein monster. You helped seed this garden of madness. And you watered and fertilized it and tended it and gave it shape and strength. And now you dont like the result.
But you helped build it to begin with.

I got all this from about 5 minutes of looking in Fox News last night and 5 minutes this morning.
Yeah, they have commentary from Napolitano but he often disagrees with their underlying narratives. He's an agitator. But, the drumbeat is the same usual Fox News dishonest spin as always.
