Axios shows just how strong that wall is: 51 Republican senators from states Trump won in 2016. He only needs 34 to save him from being convicted and removed from office if the House impeaches him.

36 Republican senators represent Trump states where he’s still popular. 15 of them are up for re-election.
15 Republican senators represent Trump states where his approval ratings are underwater, but only 4 of them are up for re-election.
Trump could lose 17 senators from his red wall — or 19 Republicans if Collins and Gardner were in the mix — and still stay in office.

The bottom line: Trump believes the combination of right-wing media backing plus GOP senators’ fear of crossing Trump voters will save him.

1. Unless the Red Wall's Senate seats are threatened by Trump's crimes he will be correct.

They are moral cowards and will cut and run or they will acquit in 5 minutes.

Unless we see a drastic shift in the GOP Congressional caucus Trump is going nowhere.

3. Bad strategy, bad tactics as well.

Dems can and will run on Repug treachery and shredding our constitution and laws and this is a very strong case. Repugs can stand with the traitor and get correctly tarred with a traitorous brush. The only way they win is blatant voter database manipulations and theft. IF that happens, we are done as a country and might as well call ourselves trumpfuckistan.

4. Any GOPer who votes to acquit will have to run on that vote in 2020

That means Collins, Gardner, McSally, and Tillis will lose.

That means Dems take senate.
