Republicans, You're Fucked

We’ve heard a lot in the past few months about how the Mueller report was too confusing for the average citizen to fully comprehend – and due to it’s complexity, was therefore of little impact or consequence.

Well, guess what? Your own “pResident” has simplified the whole process. He has now committed impeachable crimes in public, making it that much easier for the folks at home to play along! And if you’ve seen the polls, you know that more and more of them are joining the game.

So here are some tips for you as you circle the drain:

Every time your “pResident” refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of the impeachment investigation, what the people hear is, “I’m guilty, and I have a lot to hide.”

Every time your “pResident” tells a witness not to testify, what the people hear is, ”There’s a shitload of corruption I need all of you to keep your mouths shut about.”

When you Republicans say, “We refuse to recognize the oversight of the House,” what the people hear is, ”Fuck you, Constitution, the rule of law, and the citizenry who still believe in those things.”

When you Republicans say, “We refuse to turn over documents,” what the people hear is, ”A lot of us are as guilty as Trump, and we’ve got to cover our own asses here, too.”

When you Republicans say, “We need not comply with subpoenas, because the ‘pResident’ hasn’t broken any laws,” what the people hear is, ”Trump decides what the law is, not you peasants.”

Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that nothing draws a crowd to an accident scene faster than a cop saying, “There’s nothing to see here” – and yet that’s what you Republicans have been saying for almost three years now. But thanks to your “pResident’s” own abject stupidity and arrogance – along with your own spineless enabling of his corruption – he has become so convinced of being above the law that he has now publicly confirmed his own criminal behaviour.

What you Republicans saw was your “pResident” standing strong against the accusations against him – what the people saw was your “pResident” shovng his middle finger in their faces. And what the world saw was a lying buffoon attempting to destroy our democracy, aided and abetted by an equally corrupt political party.

You’ve seen the polls. You know that one way or the other – by impeachment, by resignation, by defeat at the ballot box,, or by being dragged out of the White House in a straight-jacket – your “pResident” will be gone by January 2021. What you don’t seem to recognize is that your continued covering-up of his crimes means that a lot of you will be out of a job as well – if not facing worse consequences as your own complicity in those crimes is exposed.

Make no mistake. The people who are already aboard the impeachment train are staying put, and there are new passengers boarding that train every day. And every time you say, “There’s nothing you can do to us,” the people will be yelling, “Watch this!” in response.

count NH, which we should win in a semi-cakewalk.

The current state of the 13 flippable 2020 Senate seats

Here is my completely up to date, most detailed post yet on the state of the races.

We need a plus 4 net to flip the Senate to a 51-49 Dem advantage (so no power sharing agreements needed at all) as it stands, and a plus 5 net if Paedo Moore is not the Rethug Alabama nominee (and even that bastard will be hard for Jones to beat in a POTUS year in Alabama) and we lose Doug Jones. We should absolute hold all our other seats. Jeanne Shaheen in NH is the only one that is probably not a 99% lock, with the Rethugs choosing between Don Bolduc, former U.S. Army brigadier general, Bill O'Brien, former Speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Kelly Ayotte, former U.S. Senator and former Attorney General of New Hampshire, Scott 'Pickup' Brown, U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, former U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, and 2014 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from New Hampshire, and the lunatic Rump stooge (and Hope Hicks' ex BF/verbal abuser), Corey Lewandowski. Bolduc and Ayotte are probably their best shots there (with Bolduc worrying me the most), but I feel really good about our chances to hold it, due to Rump being between 11 and 17 points (depending on the poll) underwater overall in NH.

These are all the remotely possible races where we can flip, all 13 of them. Some are very much a stretch, and also we are having a lot of big names refuse to run, in fact, all the arguably best candidates in 11 of the 13 seats have all refused, so far, to run.

These are the only 2 states ATM with our strongest possible candidates running:

Arizona Mark Kelly has a great chance at beating McSally. This was (until Hickenlooper got smart) the only state so far that we had the best potential candidate already running.

Colorado Hickenlooper now running makes it 90-95% that we flip this. Even if you do not think he is the best on policy, he still is the most electable. All I ask is that he knocks it off with the red-baiting (saying progressives are bringing back Stalin and Marx's policies), which is asinine and plays into the Rethug's hands. I would much prefer Joe Neguse or Andrew Romanoff to Hickenlooper strictly on policy.

Now the ones who do NOT have our strongest candidates running as of yet:

Alaska (I hope Mark Begich, our ex US Senator there, runs versus Sullivan, he has said he was not, but now may change his mind.) If Begich ends up completely declining, then it will probably be between Ethan Berkowitz, the mayor of Anchorage, and Forrest Dunbar, Anchorage assemblyman and nominee for Alaska's at-large congressional district in 2014.

Maine (Susan Rice, who has said no quite emphatically, would have been the best to knock out the POS hypocrite Collins IMHO, but hopefully we can find another great one, it looks likely to be Sara Gideon atm, I think Gideon can take out Collins, just was more sure on Rice, but she is not going to run.)

Montana (The most glaring one, probably, grrrr as Bullock is basically the only one of ours who would have a great chance at beating Daines, I think Bullock would defeat him, but he has said dozens of times he will not run, I just heard him say it again today. Only redeemable way this works is if Biden makes him his VP pick, which I fully support, as that ticket is the hardest to attack for Rump and the Rethugs.) I think we MIGHT have a shot if Brian Schweitzer changes his mind and runs.

Tennessee (open Rethug seat, due to Alexander retiring, I so hope Tim McGraw (yes the superstar singer, who said for years he would run when he was 50, and he is 52 now) reconsiders his turndown, he would have the best shot from all I have seen, most of the other candidates we have are already one time losers, some just last year, or pretty unknown. The two I see who are the best should McGraw not change his mind are Jeff Yarbro and James Mackler)

Georgia With Isakson retiring (there will be an interim Repug appointed for the last year) There are now TWO seats we can flip. Stacey Abrams and Sally Yates would have had the best chances by far to beat Perdue and Rethug X, but each one has said no over and over, so it is going to be much harder I fear, even though Perdue is weak, and a shit campaigner. Jon Ossoff has now declared for David Perdue's seat. So far it looks like the best of the rest are Teresa Tomlinson, Stacey Evans, Sarah Riggs Amico, Jason Carter (Jimmy's grandson), Kasim Reed, and Michelle Nunn.

Kansas (open Rethug seat due to Roberts retiring, the right candidate for us has a shot, maybe Kathleen Sebelius, but she also just said no, and a big local paper says that really hurts our chances This is a carbon copy of Montana, just swap in Sebelius for Bullock, its a Red state and all the insiders say she is only Dem who can win.)

Iowa (Cindy Axne and Vilsack, probably our 2 best chances to beat Ernst, both have declined to run, but I have hope we can find another great candidate, Theresa Greenfield (I think she will be the Dem winner) or Chet Culver (not declared) look to be the best of the rest, this is similar Maine IMHO)

North Carolina (our two best candidates by far, Foxx and Stein, have both said no, grrr, I so hope one, especially Foxx, re-considers) Tillis is so ripe for the picking if we get one of those 2 to run, and still may have a shot if it is another, Cal Cunningham perhaps, or Erica Smith, but both will have a harder time that Stein or Foxx would have had. This one is so so irritating me.

now the two wishful thinking states:

Kentucky This is probably the 2nd toughest. Andy Beshear might have had a shot at dumping McTurtle, but he is running for Governor, Amy McGrath is who we are going to have to roll with, and it is not impossible, due to McConnell being truly hated even by some Rethugs, his overall approval numbers are worse than Rump by far, amongst the bottom in all the Senate. Overall a huge reach, but so hope Moscow Mitch goes DOWN. McGrath needs to make no more errors like the one she did right at kickoff (saying she would have voted yes for Kavanaugh for SCOTUS. The same thing crushed Bredesen in TN in 2018, it so depressed our base turnout.)

Texas Cornyn in Texas is the toughest reach, IMHO, even if Beto runs (which I doubt he will.) Cornyn is streets ahead of Cruz in terms of TX popularity. I like Amanda Edwards a lot, I hope she wins the Primary, but, I do not see a pathway to anyone beating Cornyn unless something massive breaks our way. MJ Hegar is the Democratic frontrunner atm.

We would need to win FIVE of those 13 to flip it to 51-49 IF Jones goes down in Alabama, and only CO is even close to one that I would say is a pretty good chance to label a semi-lock, and some are just downright so so hard, even if the best candidates change their minds and run. My true target is 6 flips, so we are at 52-48, and thus negate Manchin and Sinema, who vote with the Rethugs 55% of the time, far more than any other Democratic Senators. I SO hope Hickenlooper does not become the 3rd member of that posse, lolol.

Schumer and Cortez Masto have been so poor at recruiting the best candidates, it is one of the biggest stories of 2020 so far. I am going to give up on pulling the people who I think are strongest in ME, IA, (those two I can be happy with who we have) TX, and KY. We just have to roll with who we have there now. AZ and CO now have our best possible, so that leaves:

AK (Begich run!)
MT (Bullock run! or if he is VP, or if he refuses, Schweitzer run!)
TN (McGraw run!)
KS (Sebelius run!)
NC (Foxx and/or Stein run!)
GA (2 seats) (Abrams run! and Yates run! if Abrams is the VP or refuses still, hopefully we can find another strong candidate from that list above.)

IF all those above change their minds and run, I can say, with at least 60% or more confidence, we will hit at least 6 flips, and maybe, IF Rump just gets crushed, win 11 of the 13, and if he goes down with my biggest possible EC count giving us EVERY remotely possible EV, we may get all 13, plus keep Jones. If that happened we would have 60 seats, so a filibusterer proof majority.

Finally, one of the dead Red lock states is by far the best bet to be a huge surprise, that being Mike Rounds in SD going down, hopefully to ex-Senator Tim Johnson's son, Brendan Johnson. The max possible EC victory count by the way, that paved the way for a 13 out of 13 sweep plus Jones holding and SD even maybe flipped, was our Dem POTUS nominee 472 - Rump 66. A girl can dream!

crucial (as in the only ones we can field with a truly decent chance) candidates

AK (Begich run!)
MT (Bullock run!)
TN (McGraw run!)
KS (Sebelius run!)
NC (Foxx and/or Stein run!)
GA (2 seats) (Abrams run! and Yates run! if Abrams is the VP or refuses still, hopefully we can find another strong candidate from that list above, maybe now we can win with Ossoff, but Yates is a MUST in the other race)

IF we get all of those in, and if Rump is just fucking trampled, I really see 5 or 6, even all 7 of those winning, the Rethugs are WEAK or they are open seats and that doesn't even count the fairly sure win of Hickenlooper, plus fair shots at the others, save for KY ad TX, which are longshots.

It is outrageous that Bullock, Begich, McGraw, Sebelius, Foxx and/or Stein in NC, and Yates (I think Abrams will be the VP tbh) are refusing to run so far. Every one would be the instant favourite or DAMN close.

I am NOT going to ever forgive them if we miss the Senate by just one or two seats, NEVER. Many of them are being practically begged to run from every angle.

Another Senate Majority led by Moscow Mitch will mean no progress and total frustration for our new Dem President.

Obviously appealing to our potential candidates patriotism isn’t working in these states.
So, do this like in any type of recruitment. We bribe them.

What do our potential nominees most care about, covet, lust after, or dream about?
Hey, Candidate, who is your favorite athlete? Would you like to meet him or her?
Your favorite actor? singer? Want a weekend cruise with them? Yes, your family, too!
How much money would you like to have to set up your grandchildren’s future?
What committee assignments would you like?
A private plane and pilot assigned to take you home from DC every weekend?
The nicest house or apartment in DC with a chef, butler, maid, masseuse, pool boy or girl?
What job would you like to have guaranteed after your six year Senate term?
What jobs for your spouse and children?

You may say this is all crazy.
Well, we for sure live in crazy ass times, don’t you think?

Oct 2019

Sebelius in KS, and Bullock in MT are the ONLY (literally) Dems who can win those two states, and both would also be instant favourites I am fairly sure. These are the two worst refusals, along with Tim McGraw, who has for YEARS (at least since 2004, when I was 8 years old, lolol) said he wants to someday run for the Senate for TN. Well, goddamn it, so it! This is BY far his best opportunity. Open seat, and a hated Trump running at top of ticket. What the hell is he waiting for??

I think Begich in Alaska will choose to jump in, but in Maine, I do not think Susan Rice can be convinced (you can go for it!) and I think Sara Gideon can beat Collins anyway.

I see many saying Biden, if he wins the nomination, will pick Rice for VP, but I do not see it, due to that instantly opening up the whole RW Benghazi shit, and Biden has shown to be risk-adverse and now is FALSELY embroiled in the Ukraine bullshit, so the last thing he wants is for another old fake scandal to have to deal with.

Stacey Abrams IS more than likely the favourite (along with Harris) to be Biden's VP pick, IMHO and she deffo will not run for Senate this time around. I will be upset if she is not chosen which means she refused to run for nothing, especially as GA has TWO seats up for grabs. Hope Yates and Ossoff can pull it off, IF Yates does run.

Iowa is frustrating too, but I hope Theresa Greenfield can pull it off. I understand Axne's decision, but not the even stronger Vilsack.

North Carolina (with both Stein and Foxx refusing to run) is also close to the top for frustration level. Either would smash Burr. I guess we have to hope Cal Cunningham can pull it off. Hopefully he runs a better campaign that his previous losing one in 2010 (granted he was only 36 then.) He does have a great resume, and is an Iraq combat vet too. He will make a great Senator if he wins.

Kentucky and Texas are the two toughest. Andy Beshear is hopefully going to win the 2019 KY Governor election against the white nationalist fundie scum Bevin, so that leaves McGrath. McTurtle will pull out all the stops to lie, cheat, and steal a win. Texas is even harder, Cornyn is not Cruz, and I do not think Beto could pull it off either. All we can do is help MJ Hegar.

not holding my breath

stir the pot too much within the confines of the power club and yer arse gets binned out of your job

a bit before my time (I was 6 years old when the shit started to hit the fan), but just ask Phil Donahue circa 2002/3 (Chris Matthews was an ASSHOLE, still often is)

Phil Donahue On MSNBC Firing: Chris Matthews Was ‘Threatened’ By Me (VIDEO)

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/phil-donahue-chris-matthews-msnbc-firing_n_2926643

Legendary talk show host Phil Donahue appeared on HuffPostLive Thursday to talk about his firing from MSNBC, the media’s role during the Iraq War, and his fraught relationship with Chris Matthews.

Donahue was a rare anti-war voice on television during the run-up to the war, but he was fired in early 2003, even though his show was a highly rated one on the network. A leaked memo later revealed that NBC executives considered him a “difficult public face for NBC in a time of war.”

As it turned out, one of the people reportedly pushing for Donahue to leave was Chris Matthews.

New York magazine’s Gabriel Sherman wrote about Matthews’ dealings with Donahue in a 2010 article:

Donahue’s problems only increased when Chris Matthews let it be known that he wanted Donahue off the air. Matthews was a rising force at the network, with a reported salary of $5 million. He cultivated former G.E. CEO Jack Welch and had the ear of NBC CEO Bob Wright (the two summered together on Nantucket). Matthews saw himself as MSNBC’s biggest star, and he was upset that the network was pumping significant resources into Donahue’s show. In the fall of 2002, U.S. News & World Report ran a gossip item that had Matthews saying over lunch in Washington that if Donahue stays on the air, he could bring down the network.

That doesn't change the reality that taking the Senate is unlikely. Nor does my activity here in Northern California do much to impact voter suppression in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, etc. Nor can I prevent foreign interference. Nor can I alter the fact that by 2040 nearly 70% of the population will be represented by just 30% of the Senate. And so on.

in one of the articles about it being "red orange" and others just said "red" so I went with that.

I know you are talking at the federal level, but even at that I disagree. They dominate the majority of state legislatures, let alone city councils, school boards and a myriad of other elected bodies throughout the states. I wish it were true with all my heart, but the party is not fucked.

Republicans benefit from extreme gerrymandering, race-based voter suppression and the simple fact that we have a tyranny of the minority system. We need major structural reform in this country.

Especially this part:

“But thanks to your “pResident’s” own abject stupidity and arrogance – along with your own spineless enabling of his corruption – he has become so convinced of being above the law that he has now publicly confirmed his own criminal behaviour.”

He thinks he’s a king with royal entitlement like nothing I’ve EVER seen. He’s in the wrong country for that. He’d do better in Saudi Arabia or Russia. And he could have his enemies killed there instead of just talking tough or tweeting threats as he does here.

I keep projecting mentally to America after trump, and wondering just how fucked up it’ll be, and how long it might take to clean it up, fix everything that’s broken, and replace (at least to some extent) everything that was stolen. And where and how, and on what should we start.

Asking and receiving election help from any foreign entity is illegal. I apologize if I come across as rude, but this shouldn't have to be explained to anyone that is and has been paying attention.

It has never happened.
It isn't going to happen.
We are in a class war and they have billionaires behind them. They ARE the billionaires.
Unfortunately, it's going to be an endless war.
That's why they are trying to take down our constitution with Putin and Trump: because that's the only thing that allows this war to continue.
The GOP isn't going anywhere.

Of the Republican party since Nixon. There have been so many "final nails" in the coffin that I believe the coffin is made solely of nails.

Objectively speaking, demographics get worse for the GOP every year. Also, according to studies, the population is becoming more liberal. So Republicans are going to have to keep stacking the deck more and more to stay in power, unless they realign as a more centrist party.

32. Our tyranny of the minority system, gerrymandering and voter suppression gives them staying power.

Example: by 2040, nearly 70% of the population will be represented by just 30% of the Senate. That's utterly anti-democratic.

We desperately need major structural reform, but the very reasons why we need reform make bringing about such reform nearly impossible.

How much our tyranny of the minority system benefits Republicans, and voter suppression.

but your last sentence is so profound.

Make no mistake. The people who are already aboard the impeachment train are staying put, and there are new passengers boarding that train every day. And every time you say, “There’s nothing you can do to us,” the people will be yelling, “Watch this!” in response.
