I'll never forget this one. I can't find the actual footage of this.
So it was basically the morning after Katrina blew through New Orleans. Shep Smith and someone from NBC we're about the only TV reporters who stuck around. As Smith was reporting you could see TV crews packing up if memory serves. He's standing in the middle of the street and says "as we stand here water is just rolling in towards us" it wasn't much but you could see water trickling in around him. Over the next few days it got worse and worse AND we saw the horrific conditions in the Superdome and the area.
He and the guy from NBC - can't find who it was - kept reporting on what was going on as everyone else wanted to move on to the next story. As Fox News tried to move on Smith kept at it. Fox wanted desperately to not show the failings of the W administration (and they quickly move to blaming the recently Republican black Mayor) but on and on it went.
W&Dick will forever bee stained by that mess and Shepard Smith was a big part of that.
Here is some footage with Geraldo rushing in to get some airtime.

(47,487 posts)No propaganda, just the news. Too much for Fox, I suppose.
Wonder how long Chris Wallace will last. Was surprised that Wallace turned 72 today..

(182,830 posts)Shep was the one, to my memory, who stopped everyone from running away.
This may sound stupid but Jennings was a big fan of Jazz so he probably had a lot of ties to New Orleans.
