Fox News staff warns of an 'exodus' as consequence of Shep Smith resignation

Raw Story

“It feels like death in the news division,” said one senior Fox employee. The source explained that many staffers were “shocked” at the news, and some were crying. “At least we had him.”

Even Fox host Neil Cavuto was floored as his show began immediately after Smith’s announcement. He struggled to find the words to describe the shock and touted Smith’s kindness and compassion for those in the newsroom.

“Who can fill that role?” another Fox employee asked.

Another Fox News employee said, “staffers were openly weeping” after Smith made the announcement. The person explained that some “were here and have stayed here solely for” Smith.

“Don’t be surprised if there’s an exodus,” the staffer told CNN. “Fox hasn’t just lost Shep today.”

He was there for 23 years apparently. If he spent 23 years there, he almost certain engaged in propaganda. Surely, this makes him less than heroic.

Of course, I really can't say. I don't watch Nazi propaganda on TV, so I'm not really all that familiar with FOX News except by osmosis or am somewhere where I can't escape, at which time I see only that, propaganda.

The only time I saw FOX News regularly was when I was in my Dr.s office. I put up with that Dr. for a little bit, for convenience, but I changed doctors as a result of having to watch that insane crap.

you are not that familiar with FOX News, so maybe you shouldn't be spouting off an opinion about something you admit to knowing nothing about. Shep Smith was probably the ONLY person over at FOX who regularly told the truth. I frequently wondered why he stayed there, but I told myself that at least the FOX viewers were getting a dose of the truth, even if Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Jeanine Pierro were regularly spouting bullshit.

...of it than was forced down my throat when trapped.

I do note however, that most television anchors are not really reporters; they're just people reading scripts.

Maybe he was put there to be the "fair and balanced" guy.

I don't know the names of any of their people except the pig Bill O'Reilly how used to work there, because a friend of mine knew him in college, where he was widely considered an asshole (Marist), and that Hannity guy since he comes at you through osmosis.

But no, I don't watch FOX news any more than I read White Supremacy or Marxist Leninist newspapers.

I'm not actually a television kind of guy.

In general, I think that there is no legitimate purpose for being intrinsically familiar with propaganda.

And I agree with her and you:

Twitter on Friday was full of fawning takes about how he was the best person at Fox, which is like being the least slutty person at Caligula’s last orgy. You’re still there while the watersports and bestial bukkake are happening, my dude, and it’s not like the doors were locked behind you.

Let’s review some of things Fox and its creatures engaged in during Shep’s principled time there, which did not outrage him enough to quit his job.

The whole thing: read it.

Fox’s effectiveness as propaganda DEPENDS on being able to deny that they are propaganda and say they have some news.

So they need some props they can say are “real journalists”. Shep has just been a tool of Rupert Murdoch this whole time.

an inappropriate remark Carlson had made and Shep called him out on it: "Repugnant." The following day he was told NOT to criticize Carlson on the air. Then William Barr met with Rupert Murdoch and the next day, Smith announced his resignation.

So, they lost Shep Smith because of Carlson ? Not much of a deal if you ask me.

Besides, I thought Murdoch had turned the operations over to his sons. Just another withered, impotent white fossil . . .

His ratings were much lower than their propagandists since he was moved from early evening to 3 pm. As far as I could tell, none of my Trumper Fox watching relatives and acquaintances ever watched his show. He was supposed to be also covering breaking news at other times besides his 3 pm show, but Fox seldom let him cover truly breaking news if it reflected poorly on Trump, instead focusing viewers' attention away to diversions.
