If Trump holds his base, he keeps the GOP'ers in the Senate in line. If Trump gets Faux Snooze to keep feeding propaganda to that base, he gets to claim victory after the Senate vote.

He still sees the presidency as being about ratings, and thinks that if your ratings are good, you can't be impeached.

You'll note that he's always saying he can't be impeached because the economy is good, or because he's doing a 'great job'.

Making the connection between impeachment and criminal activity is simply beyond his mental capacity - as most things are.
