(58,785 posts)heavy crown covered with jewels. Totally understandable at her age. Turns out this is the second time she's passed, and it's sitting on a table in front of her. Of course, I found there was controversy about whether the 93-year-old queen should wear it through London and sitting through the ceremony or not.
"In total there are 2,868 diamonds in silver mounts, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds and 269 pearls. However it is very, very heavy - so it's hardly surprising that at 93 the Queen has decided it might be time to swap to a lighter alternative. Instead she is wearing the George IV diadem, a smaller and lighter diamond crown."

(51,308 posts)I so love England.
Born from British parents, christened in a tiny church in Wales. Dual citizenship.
Funny though, my parents who were both born poor, really didnt care for the monarchy, though mom saw Elizabeths coronation.
