The days of John Dowd and Ty Cobb level representation are over. Now he's down to former members of Congress. Next he'll be looking for TV lawyers at Fox. The best lawyers don't need the trouble of working for Trump. And they don't need the money.

The evidence is mounting that Trump is a deadbeat. It's true! I wouldn't be surprised he files for bankruptcy after his presidency is over.

I'm thinking that because Trump doesn't run anything by anybody anymore, he got fixated on the idea of Trey Gowdy because he knew he was a lawyer "on his side" and had seen him on TV. Like Jay Sekulow, he's not a serious lawyer, but because Trump saw him on TV, he thought he was. His real lawyers (White House counsel) shot down the idea as ridiculous. And they never vett anything before they announce it, so the thing quickly spun out of control. I read elsewhere that Trey Gowdy didn't want this job, but I don't know the veracity of that report.

He never thinks before he does anything, won't listen to professionals, and probably liked Gowdy's "performances" during the Clinton hearings. He also either didn't think about the number of times Trey was on the news programs bitching about not getting the information they asked for, or he thought he could get away with calling it fake news. Maybe he doesn't understand how that recording stuff works. They're literally giving the Democrats everything they need.
All I know is, I'm beginning to enjoy this.
