@RepAdamSchiff is conducting his secretive impeachment proceedings in the basement of the Capitol, and now hes kicked @mattgaetz out of todays deposition. This testimony should be available to every member of Congress and every single American. What is Schiff hiding?

Replying to @Jim_Jordan @RepAdamSchiff and @mattgaetz
Telling a drunk that he does not belong at a meeting involving 3 committees Gaetz does NOT serve on is following the rules. Put on a suit jacket, stop dressing like a grocery story clerk, stop acting so ignorant and making proclamations that are 101% incorrect. Fool.

(6,831 posts)I saw a picture of him and he looked really short. His web pages do not list his height. Anybody know ?

(81,298 posts)I think Mark Meadows was there too. And they all looked at least a head taller than he was. He looked like a little shrimp by comparison. That must be why he behaves the swaggering, bullying cocky-ass way he does. Must figure thatll add a few inches, maybe.

(7,398 posts)One of the things I have always wondered about is why the people that make it possible for the rest of us to enjoy much of our lives are so lowly paid. Grocery store clerks, cashiers, servers, receptionists, etc. Without them or without them being effective the economy suffers greatly. They are basically the front lines.
By the way, in no way am I inferring you don't appreciate those people, just running off at the keyboard. I agree with your premise entirely.

(9,828 posts)grateful to have an encounter with the people who service my car, help me at the grocery store, take my BP at the drs office, take my order at neighborhood restaurants. I certainly have a lot more confidence in them to do the job they are being paid (very poorly, in my opinion) to do.

(24,653 posts)Referring to AOC as just a bartender and telling Gym not to dress like a grocery store clerk are just two examples of this. Sometimes it's fairly subtle and sometimes it's over the top. Either way, the message is that people who work for a living on their feet are inferior in some way.
I'll admit I appreciated the spanking until I got to the line about grocery store clerks. That soured me on the whole smack down. He could have skipped that phrase and made his entire point well enough. I'm tired of the belittling of people working in service industries.
ETA: Yes, this is personal. I worked retail for the first ten years of my career. I think it was probably the winter of 90-91 when Atlanta got a bit more than just a dusting of snow mixed with some sleet. Which anyone who knows the area knows it paralyzes the city. I was an assistant manager at a Victoria Secret at Northlake Mall commuting from Marietta. i.e. across town. Half the stores in the mall were closed, but I was ordered in and made it there in time to open. I was by myself for the first couple of hours, which was technically against company policy, but the DM wanted the sales revenue so there I was. About an hour after opening and being bored out of my mind, a laughing young couple wandered into the store. I can't remember the entirety of the conversation with them, but they were enjoying a day off at the mall because wherever they worked had closed for the day and told their employees to stay home and stay safe. I asked them what they would be doing with their day off if I hadn't made it in to open the store. The reply was like a kick in the gut, "yeah, but it's not like you have a real job." WTF?!?!? I may not remember what they look like or which one of them said it, but that line has stayed with me for almost 30 years.

(7,398 posts)appalling how some people treated the store employees at times. Sort of a power trip in their lives I suppose. Unfortunately when the DM's and bigwigs came around every few weeks, they weren't much better.

(5,734 posts)Although it could be interpreted that way, I think it more referred to dressing inappropriately for the job that he has. A grocery store clerk, which is a job I used to do, requires either a uniform or casual wear because of the physical nature of the job. He was elected to a high office and should dress respectfully, like the rest of his colleagues. He's just trying to make himself stand out, which is pretty obnoxious.
