I think Mitt Romney is a nice man, but Im afraid of his Mormon faith, Manning said. Its better than a Muslim. Of course, every time you look at the TV these days you find an ad on there telling us how normal they are. So why do they have to put ads on the TV just to convince us that theyre normal if they are normal? If the Mormon faith adhered to a past philosophy of pluralism, multi-wives, that doesnt follow the Christian faith of one man and one woman, and that concerns me.the rest:

(15,391 posts)This guy is just one member of one of many flocks who have been told over the years by their ministers that Mormonism = Cult (sidenote: it does). We can probably expect a lot of those pastors to do a 180 and support Romney if he becomes the nominee (sidenote: he will), but their flocks are going to be harder to turn. Now this guy is probably going to vote because there are two extremes to what he's saying: "A Mormon is better than a Musim so I'm going to vote Mormon," is one, but the attitude at the other end is, "My only two choices are a Mormon or a Muslim? I'm stayin' home and watchin' my Nascar DVDs."
Combine that with Mitt's sparkling personality, and there's going to be a lot of inertia to overcome to get people like this out to vote.

(35,392 posts)in a Sherlock Holmes mystery (in fact, I believe it was the first one), Doyle points out the "intolerence" of the LDS/Mormons ... how, if they don't approve of the lifestyle of someone they've "saved", that person will be "disappeared" if the person hasn't "reformed".
Like if they didn't take more than one wife (in the earlier, 19th century times) ...

Mark Twain also did an interesting book on Mormonism. It was a popular topic for exposes back in the day.
