Trump Intends To Ban Copies Of NYT, WaPo Newspapers From White House

President Trump plans to bar copies of the New York Times and Washington Post newspapers from the White House.

During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday evening, in which he spouted off on the same litany of topics he spent his Monday Cabinet meeting raging about, Trump made a notable side comment about his least favorite media outlets.

“Look, they give Pulitzer prizes to people who got it wrong, okay? All these people from the New York Times, which is a fake newspaper, we don’t even want it in the White House anymore, we’re going to probably terminate that and the Washington Post,” he told Hannity. “They’re fake. You take a look at the New York Times and you take a look at the reporting they do– it turned out to be all wrong.”

He used to read those papers if only to ridicule them. He used to like to know what his critics were saying under the theory that "all publicity is good publicity." So now he's not even interested in his bad publicity. Can he resist looking at these papers, though? Maybe this is just a talking point, to make conscientious reports feel their work is in vain from the perspective of reaching people around the president.

This appears to be his miniature version of book burning, et al., and purging of information not deemed suitable by the Party.

In that case, he is a classic example of how a tyrannical government works by way of censorship and it seems like a logical, next step from casting all media that does not agree with him as "the enemy of the people".

So, I consider this a symbolic act that indicates an intention that he is not able to follow through on, thankfully. That tactic was powerful in previous authoritarian ideologies, but times have changed. While it is not impossible for a phase like that to be enacted, (book banning, burning, etc.) there is also the Internet. Emergency powers could give him the ability to restrict or close off access, however. We see that countries like China use censorship to control the kinds of information that is accessible.

Anyway, this is a classic behavior worth noting and may indicate where he would like to go if he could. That goes into the dangerous cretin file. He may be the number one enemy of our democracy and the portent of death to our Republic at present.

All businesses should stand up against this or they too will see they'll allow their businesses to either be corrupted and stolen from by shakedowns, and a criminal DOJ, or reject this abuse of power that'll be directed towards them eventually, or end up like Putin has done in Russia where only the most corrupt are allowed to prosper.

Heck, make it official with an executive order. Why not just ban all media you don't like? Get rid of pesky schools too. Have a good book burning.... etc...

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. They are probably the only Presidents he can name off the top of his head.
