...For 50 years I have served this country, starting as a cadet at West Point, then as an infantry officer for six years, including with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, then at the Department of Energy, then as a member of a Senate staff, then at NATO, then at the State Department here and abroad, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Jerusalem, in Ukraine. And we have seen from the initial response to this testimony from the White House that the president and his supporters are going to go after Bill Taylor nevertheless as if he’s some plant, some Democratic partisan, somebody they can impugn personally.
