Trump's lawyer tells Judge Denny Chin that if Trump were to shoot someone on Fifth Avenue....

RadicalUnelectedHat Retweeted

Here is Trump's lawyer, William Consovoy, telling Judge Denny Chin that if Trump were to shoot someone on fifth avenue, he could not be criminally investigated while in office.

Very normal argument.

This is how the Holocaust came about. Incremental rationalizing that then next step isn't extreme. And the next step isn't extreme. And the next step isn't extreme.

The lawyer called it immunity.

That's not a thing written down anywhere. But the introduction of the idea is dangerous and powerful.

This is an extremely important ruling, to understate the matter

The neocons used it to argue immunity from war crimes, Trump uses it to argue immunity for plain old every day crimes.
