Just to be clear, the GOP is not excluded

The temper tantrum being thrown in the Capital today seems to imply that the GOP is entirely shut out of the process. This is nonsense. The only limitation is that only members of the relevant committees are allowed in.

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/23/impeachment-republicans-trump-055688

In reality, more than 45 House Republicans — nearly a quarter of the House GOP conference — already have full access to the depositions through their membership on one of the three panels leading the impeachment inquiry. During the depositions, Republican lawyers are given the same amount of time to question witnesses as Democratic counsels.

Furthermore...

One Republican who has been able to attend the proceedings, Rep. Chris Stewart of Utah, acknowledged that the closed-door nature of the impeachment proceedings are consistent with the House’s procedures.

“This may be within House rules. That’s not the question. The question is, is it a good idea to impeach the president in secret hearings?” Stewart said. “This may very well be within Chairman Schiff’s and Nancy Pelosi’s authority to do this. I think it’s a bad idea.”

This is just a circus to attack the process and distract from the actual fact-finding.

If you"re on Twitter, please help out spread this factual information. The MAGAts seem to think the reps are finally standing up to the Dems who apparently are shutting the republicans out of these super secret hearings.

the Committee is collecting EVIDENCE in order to advance impeachment process; TRIAL is held in the Senate, and will be OPEN.

Wouldn't want to confuse repugs with mere FACTS.

Just adding that these investigative meetings will be followed by public impeachment hearings in the house before the house vote.

I’m sure you know that, but the way you worded it sounded like it isn’t open until the senate trial.

The republicans know it as well but their only argument now is on process. The evidence is damning.

By the time we get to the formal impeachment hearings they will complain the whole process is taking too long.

This is a grand jury stage where hearings are private.

But the lie is meant to reverse the trend of public opinion which is going against the executive. So they go for the grandstand that could get their members censured - which ought to happen. Guards at the door are also needed now that the Republicans have breached national security.

They complain about the process, but then they don't participate when they have the chance.
