Republicans now say they didn't bring cellphones into secure area. Except there's footage they did.

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/10/gop-lawmakers-scramble-to-backtrack-after-realizing-their-scif-stunt-broke-security-protocols/

Many of these GOP lawmakers subsequently sent out tweets informing followers that they were offering updates from within the SCIF, which means that they very likely broke security protocols by bringing unsecured phones with cameras into what is supposed to be a secure location.

After apparently realizing that they’ve opened themselves up to potentially being denied future security clearances, many of these lawmakers posted followup tweets letting people know that it was their staffers outside of the SCIF who were tweeting.

And now take a look at this, at the 0:09 mark.

How did they get the info from the SCIF to staffers--by carrier pigeon? Semaphore flags? ASL? nt tblue37 Oct 2019 #2

Asshole publicity stunts can only be effective if there is actual publicity.

The reality is they are too dumb to consider the ramifications of their actions and didn't even think twice about it.

Someone elsewhere suggested locking them in that secure room for the night! I then suggested that they be made to stay there until their bail clears. At any rate, locking them in would also soon reveal who has a cell phone in there when they start whining about being locked in with no access to bathrooms!

They have done this to themselves and I expect them to pay dearly for the rest of their miserable lives.
