"Democrats on Capitol Hill challenged the secrecy of the process surrounding the task force, which has met eight times in the last 90 days. Counsel responded that it did not have to provide information about the process Environmental groups have requested documentation about task force meetings under the Freedom of Information Act, but so far those have been denied.

(17,668 posts)What purpose does fatalism and self- defeat serve anyone here?

(13,912 posts)I think what is called fatalism is proven by history. Self defeat? Yes if nothing gets done.. I think it would be more along motivation...... YMMV works for me..

(31,261 posts)There is a Constitutional provision against arresting them. Being led off on handcuff is exactly what they wanted because that would have meant the democrats violated the Constitution, which is EXACTLY the talking point they want to invalidate the depositions.
We can't fucking play into their games because we want our Reps to stomp the shit out of them. We run the risk of giving up the high ground that we have gained.

(31,261 posts)There is a constitutional provision that Members of Congress can't be arrested when in the Halls of Congress, even the basement.
After today my guess is Speaker Pelosi post Capitol police officers at the entrance of the secure area and only those members with business there get in.

(31,261 posts)But AOC and other members can storm and occupy their offices without consequence. The problem is what will that gain us but the primal satisfaction of watching that transpire on video?
The empressof all
(29,098 posts)But that visceral satisfaction would sure feel sweet for a few moments.
Overall the Democrats handled this like the competent adults and those fools just looked like the idiots in this case.
