Major League Baseball is investigating longtime umpire Rob Drake's tweet about buying an assault rifle amid the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on Wednesday.

In a tweet posted and deleted on Tuesday, Drake wrote that he planned to buy an AR-15 "because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020."

According to Passan, an MLB spokesperson said the league was aware of the tweet and looking into it. Joe West, the president of the MLB's Umpire Association, declined to comment to ESPN.

Drake wrote in a second tweet that "You can't do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?"

Drake, 50, became a full-time umpire in 2010 after making his major league debut in 1999. He worked postseason games in 2010 and 2012-2015.

I talked with a young minor league umpire a few years back and he said that the older umpires like West won't reture because they have it so good financially (many could live off their per diem) and there is no accountability. This is the difficulty that differentiates Watergate from the current scandals. The whole "Behind closed doors in a basement" is completely a right wing talking point. All of the right wing idiots like Gaetz, McCarthy, Jordan, etc... are parroting the point. They get pushback from mainstream reporters at least some times and mainstream sources will point out that prior to Hillary Clinton's public testimony, most of the evidence gathering was done in those very same SCIFs without any of the fan fare (other than John Lewis and Elijah Cummings demanding that Democrats on the committees receive the same access to information as the Republicans.

When all you listen to is Fox and right wing radio, all you get is how "not normal" and how wrong the process is, even though it is a complete falsehood.

There are people who swear that the Builderbergs and Trilateral Commission are controlling the world and there is an Illuminati pulling all the strings and when you look into where those people get their information, you find that they are WAY down a rabbit hole of crazy conspiracy media.
