Even if McConnell did ask Fat Nixon to take one for the team, he wouldn't do it because there is no "I" in "team." Fat Nixon doesn't do teams.

Everyone else, even his children as a last resort, are expendable. So, what team is he talking about here?

Trump's not a Republican, he's an opportunist and they were his best bet due to their extremism he could exploit. He's not on their team, or even their side. Scaramucci is still an idiot trying to be relevant.
