https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pelosi-says-house-will-vote-this-week-on-resolution-formalizing-impeachment-proceduresIn a letter sent to Democratic House lawmakers, Pelosi, D-Calif., said the resolution "affirms the ongoing, existing investigation" and "establishes the procedure" for future investigative steps.

Republicans hit back Monday at Pelosi over the planned vote, with South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham -- the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which would play a role in a Senate impeachment trial -- saying, A vote now is a bit like un-ringing a bell as House Democrats have selectively leaked information in order to damage President Trump for weeks."
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told Fox News: "What it authorizes is that we were right. You cant go back now."
The White House argued Monday that the move proves Democrats have been conducting an "unauthorized" inquiry.
We wont be able to comment fully until we see the actual text, but Speaker Pelosi is finally admitting what the rest of America already knew that Democrats were conducting an unauthorized impeachment proceeding, refusing to give the President due process, and their secret, shady, closed-door depositions are completely and irreversibly illegitimate, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

She wants to nullify their process argument, a senior Democratic source told Fox News. Thats all they talk about. Republicans wont touch the substance. So this is her way of forcing their hand.

(49,052 posts)Police investigations are not public, of course. And we are in a Grand Jury phase.
The Constitution authorizes the House to set the Rules.
Democrats have been following REPUBLICAN RULES.
That's public hearings coming and Senate trial.
Not closed to Republicons. "Shady" is of course pure propaganda, an emotional word with no basis in fact here.
Investigations are closed door. Grand Jury presentations are not public.
Repeating nonsense does not make it more true, but it it does stroke the emotions and repetition is the fundamental tool of fascist propaganda.
This "press secretary" is even smokier and shadier than Harrah Suckabee-Sanders. How's that for a bit of a taste of her own?

(9,090 posts)the master of rationalization lumbaugh leading the way they can always have it both ways with their base
that's why dems need to poll for talk radio and isolate the part of the base that are dittoheads who believe anything from lumbaugh and sons from the secondary recipients of that massive national buzz who just believe it because they're either too apathetic or too busy or isolated from alternatives and the true believer minority is louder around them - at the bar, store, dinner table etc'
dems have huge upside to gain from isolating the very minor 5-10% true base from the 30% secondary base
dems need to invoke lumbaugh regularly whenever faced with the lies and denial because most republicans know that's where it starts, even if dems have no clue, and they need help breaking away

(3,527 posts)That needs to be the message that is pushed.
The Republicans asked for an impeachment vote. They demanded it.

(10,109 posts)Every lawyer knows that the person driving the car for a bank robber is also guilty and is an accessory to the crime. Republicans have been driving Trumps getaway car for the past two years. They know they are enabling crimes against this country. When the details of Trumps crimes come out, as they will, how much longer can they hide outside in the getaway car while Trump is inside robbing the country and bribing foreign leaders to benefit himself personally. The Ukraine quid pro quo is nothing less than a deal to bribe a foreign leader to manufacture dirt on the Bidens, in return for which Trump would release US aid. We need to start calling his actions what they are. Bribery is specifically mentioned in the Constitution as an impeachable offense.

(9,263 posts)development of the articles of impeachment committee/hearing. With smart tactics, Schiff can have a dozen trump officials on camera all pleading the 5th amendment. No better optics to establish guilt in the eyes of the american people.
This is what terrifies the GOP, as they know trump's people will plead the 5th

(6,406 posts)That way they could target Dem's in purple districts.
Now that shit has hit the fan and the investigations are showing not just a smoking gun but dead bodies with matching ballistics...they don't want a vote that could now help Dem's in purple districts. Particularly now that shit is about to go public.
