(54,397 posts)A 72 year old man with beginning dementia, no scruples and a strong inferiority complex to boot is playing at being president with the ability to launch nuclear missiles and order our military around.
How's THAT for scary?

(54,397 posts)October-November-December, and February-March-April are my months from hell.
The rest of my week looks like this: Tomorrow, Brussels. Thursday, Paris. Friday, Utrecht. Saturday-Sunday, Karlsruhe.
I'm happy if I know what language I'm supposed to speak at breakfast--except on Thursday. At the hotel's breakfast bar, the receptionist is Algerian, but she used to work in Barcelona, so we speak Catalan with each other. The waiters are from the Philippines, so I speak Tagalog and English with them. The omelet chefs are either from Carmeroun (French with him) or Algeria (I speak Italian with him, since he lived in Rome for ten years). And the check-out staff will be either Swedish (can do), Turkish (a few words), Portuguese (half way intelligible), or Flemish (sigh of relief, can do). If I remember what hotel I'm at, and I remember who speaks what, the rest of the day should go smoothly!
You really as busy.
How many languages do you speak?
DFW
(54,397 posts)Well, 9½ if you count Schwyzerdüütsch (Swiss German).
I know a few words of lots of others, but only enough to impress a native for about 30 seconds. I don't really speak them well enough to carry on a coherent conversation, so I don't include them.
As for my schedule, yeah, there is no rest for the weary. I painted myself into a corner jobwise. I molded my position so that almost no one else could take it away from me. The only trouble is that now that I'm looking for a replacement (I was recruited at 23, and I'm 67 now), and I can't find one. If you know someone who doesn't mind traveling a LOT, will work 80 hours a week, has US and EU working papers, can spot counterfeit money and coinage from most major countries and the USA back to 1792, and speaks French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Catalan, Italian, Swedish and Russian, and would like a nice, decently-paying secure job with 6 weeks paid vacation, let me know.
