Just in from Monmouth University:

More than 60 percent of respondents who support President Trump say they support him no matter what, according to a new survey.

The Monmouth University poll released Tuesday found that 62 percent of Trump supporters said they could not think of “anything that Trump could do, or fail to do, in his term as president that would make [them] disapprove of the job he is doing.”

The numbers released in the poll show Trump supporters becoming more entrenched in their belief of the president, with a 12 percent increase from the last time the question was asked in January of 2018

That's the problem with pre-judging. One little fact (voted for Trump) and we ignore 40% of his voters who MIGHT be moved by something.

2. What is he selling them?

He's not selling them prosperity. He's not selling them safety. He's not selling them honesty. He's not selling them toughness. He might pretend to sell these things, but they are all delivered later (and the policies he pushes ensure that he won't be giving them that at all).

His biggest selling point is rooted in bigotry and racism - and we can't win over people who are motivated by bigotry and racism (people motivated by stupidity or lack of attention are possible, but it's hard to tell how many of those there are).

We should run on our own values and not try to sell ourselves as "Trump but not a moron" or "Trump but not a racist."
